I have an external Seagate hard drive that was working fine until earlier.

I sent a print to the wireless printer and the computer (Windows 10, 12gb RAM) hung and crashed.

I rebooted the computer and now it won't recognise the hard drive and no other device will.

Well, it WILL in theory. In Device Manager it is there, but not in Windows Explorer or the Disk Management tool. When it's plugged in it makes a funny bleeping noise and the light comes on and stays on.

Any advice is greatfully requested.

Thanks.

Fixed with the help of a program called Recuvva

Would probably still replace that drive asap. Data is too precious and hard drives are too cheap to risk continuing to use a hard drive showing any hint of starting to give up, whether it now appears OK or not.

I have done. Bought a powered 2tb desktop one instead.
