I'm on a mac so I have the free ones, quicktime, VLC player and iMovie. I coulnd't work out how to do this with iMovie... I really needs to be a decent quality because it's supposed to go on a printed card and the printers need it in a high resolution (300 dpi). Doesn't have to be massive size, but good resolution... if that makes any sense

In VLC if you right click then snapshot it will take a picture of the current frame for you. You can use the letter 'E' to move to the desired frame. Search your finder for vlc or navigate to your pictures folder where they are usually saved.

I use Media Player Classic. You can pause and move the video to where you want to capture the frame by using keyboard shortcut Alt+I.
