From 2nd November, Demand 5 will be removed from 2011 Samsung Smart TV's while 2012+ models will be upgraded.

Though these days you'd be pushed to buy a non-Smart TV apart from the most bargain-basement models. Once they stop being smart you just stick a set top box or HDMI stick into them to upgrade them...

Considering the Now TV box, Amazon Fire Stick and Chromecast are heavily subsidised, most households should have one of the three budget end streaming devices. Some consumers may have a smart tv, but also have a streaming device. (i.e. a Samsung owner with a Now TV box).

Most? Not sure that's true. A lot possibly - but do we really think that more than 50% of households have a separate streaming device? (And I don't think the Chromecast is that heavily subsidised - it's the same SoC as in the original Raspberry Pi)

Stopped working on my parents Sony smart tv a while ago, they now have to access it through a Now TV box to getall those repeats of CSI and NCIS
