Hi

Is Sky go compatible with Android TV Boxes? I know they're compatible with tablets and smartphones but I'm looking at buying something like this?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Android-T9-RK3328-Bluetooth-64bits/dp/B07JMKV56S/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=2X5X3UDKYDFLK&dchild=1&keywords=android+box+4gb+ram&qid=1586022807&sprefix=android+box%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSlU3VURQWkdJTFhEJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzIxODAxMjVDNjFOSTA3WVY3UCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzAwNzMyNURRQVlNQkFFMzZQJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Won't work. You'll get an error saying it's not compatible with this device. I've heard it'll also display an error if you connect a tablet to a TV with HDMI.
London Lite and Ne1L C gave kudos

Is that the same for all boxes?

Could I wave the following browser extension in the honourable poster's direction?

Your posted URL gets reduced to this which makes everybody happy:

But on the subject of Sky Go - its a deliberate decision to show you an error message if you try to output from it via HDMI or via Chromecast. It's not device specific, its the acct of outputting over HDMI from it.

You may be able to connect HDMI from a laptop to a TV and use Sky Go that way, but I Haven't tried this and I can't see anything that says it won't work.

I am grateful for the honourable poster's extension

The plan (right now) is to use the sky go app from the google play store to play channels through the media player alongside other apps. As I understand it Android 9 and above will allow Sky Go but i don't know if its just tablet that will allow it.

Android on a tablet is very similar to Android on a mobile phone, just without the calling features on show, for obvious reasons. They are there - you'll see some apps that say they want permissions to do with calls when you install them.

Easiest solution if you have the tablet already - install the app and give it a whirl. If it works, cool. If it doesn't, uninstall it. Simples. *squeak* Wink

Pretty sure it'll work if you load Sky Go on a laptop and hook it up with an HDMI cable, if that's an option.
