Election 2005 -Pre-Election discussion here

BBC LDN posted:
In addition to N24's ELECTION LIVE bug, there's also a dedicated Election split-screen, and special ticker masthead backgrounds with a three-colour masthead for "ELECTION"; yellow for Lib Dems, blue for Tories; and a bright red one for Labour which doesn't look very different from the Breaking News ticker masthead really.

I'd have thought they'd change the main headline area to dark grey at least, rather than the standard red.

Does anybody know if there's a timetable for where the BBC Election Bus will be over the next month (please don't attack me, I'm asking because I'd like to see it as I'm hoping to become a journalist)?

Do you ever have anything worthwhile to contribute?

What are you doing in an election thread when you're not even old enough to vote?

According to Huw Edwards some of the Six O' Clock News and BBC News 24 will be broadcast live on the BBC election bus.

Can someone confirm this?

and why don't you believe Huw!

If he has said it it will happen.

Actually it was Jon Sopel who siad it, but you can believe him as well.

I've got nothing against Huw (or Jon) but it seems strange that the Six and BBC News 24 will be broadcast from a bus. Shocked

Real Story with Fiona Bruce vs Tonight with Trevor McDonald

ohwhatanight posted:
I think the reason that Tonight With Trevor Mcdonald is so popular is that it is scheduled opposite a failing Eastenders.
WHEREAS
Real Story is scheduled against a strong Coronation Street! Surely the BBC should have some faith in the programme and put it somewhere in the schedule where it will gain more viewers?(The BBC have been told NOT to chase ratings anymore!)

Yes, I agree. Good show, good format, good presenter but wrong time slot. I think it should be moved to either 8pm, 8.30pm, 9pm or 9.30pm, then I'm sure it would be more popular than 'Tonight'.

Also, please learn how to spell before you start insulting me, i.e. the word ''annoying'' is spelt ''A.N.N.O.Y.I.N.G'' not ''A.N.O.Y.I.N.G.''

.............. and you also have the cheek to assume I was ''born in 1996'' when you have the spelling ability of someone who was born in 2001.

If you're going to insult me, please do it properly. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

There's really altogether too much eye rolling going on here.

If the wind changes you'll be stuck like that.

Natasha Kaplinsky to Stay at BBC for £500,000

BBC LDN posted:
I quite agree. Breakfast has been great fun this morning with Natasha squirming over the revelation of the news - but she's been a very good sport about it all. I'm not her biggest fan by any stretch, but I've enjoyed this morning's Breakfast enormously with the joking around they've been having.

They've been perfectly serious, and the consummate professionals, when discussing matters requiring a more sober attitude, but at appropriate times, they've let their hair down, had a joke about it with Declan and Carol, and generally enjoyed themselves. I hear people complain endlessly about the lack of "chemistry" between Dermot and Natasha, yet today when the on-screen interaction between them has been so bubbly and vivacious, we get a sourpuss like BBC WORLD complaining that it's not a ****ing playground.

If you want nothing but a newscaster reading out the news to you, and only the most sombre of handovers when interacting with other presenters, then bugger off and watch BBC WORLD. This kind of balance between seriousness and the light-hearted is precisely what's needed on Breakfast, when most people really don't want to be bored to death by the endless drone of depressing news. A bit of discussion, a spot of banter, and a small dose of lightness make it all a bit more bearable.

Thank you 'BBC LDN'. Smile

That's even worse, and reeks of playground type behaviour. Why don't they just stick to their jobs and give us the (real) news?
