ITV Lunchtime News: now 1 hour as part of ITV Day

Katie 'Durham University' (as I like to call her Laughing ) and Nick Owen are my favourite ITV News Presenters along with Trevor McDonald. It's a shame these three are on ITV News and not with the only reptiable news organisation in the UK known as the BBC.

Reporting Scotland & Scotland Today

p_c_u_k posted:
Good to see the wonderful people of Paisley living up to their reputation. Mike Edwards was trying to do a live link to Scotland Today about the recent stabbings (5 people stabbed, one person arrested and charged in connection, therefore sod all else we can say about it) and had a shower of neds (chavs for those of you down south) shouting all over it. It included the classic moment when he said "The man will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday" which was responded to with "Paisley Sheriff Court is full of dafties", presumably from someone who knows it quite well. He did plough on heroically, although he was stumbling over the odd word here and there, probably because he couldn't hear himself.

Could have been worse I suppose - there wasn't any swearing, or anything that could have had them hauled up for Contempt of Court.

Is it not about time something was done to stop idiots wrecking live broadcasts though? I suppose the only thing you could do is arrange a bouncer to drag people away, or get a police presence, but both would presumably cost cheap old SMG some money. Broadcasters do need to do something though. The day people just jumped around in the background when a TV camera is about is over, and anything could happen next.

Yes, I saw that yesterday. I think it was very professional of Mike to continue reporting.

BBC East Midlands Today

Gary Roberts posted:
Yup, EMT is a good regional news programme. I've seen it a few times but I do have one BIG complaint:

Why doesn't the programme cover Northamptonshire, even though it is receivable everywhere North of Daventry and Northampton?

I have family in Wellingborough and can't stand Look at Norwich (aka Look East - Norwich this, Norwich that...), so I watch EMT which is better but doesn't bother with Northants, even though it's adequately receivable in most of the county! AAARRRGH!

OK, rant over!

Why don't you e-mail them with your complaint. I'm sure they'll be intereseted in the viewers thoughts on their proogrammes.

Natasha's weekend bulletins

Some people have mentioned that Natasha sometimes does the weekend bulletins, but I've never seen her on the news on weekends. Does she present Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday (I usually see BIll and Sian), the 12 noon bulletin on Saturday (I usually see Darren or Jane) and Sunday ( I usually see Moira), or the bulletins during Breakfast with Frost on Sunday (again, I usually se Moira)?

Does anybody know?

Yes I agree, BBC Breakfast is much better. Dermot and Natasha have a great on-screen chemistry and are both very good.

What do you all think of East Midlands Today? I love the chemistry between Anne Davies and Dominic Heale on the 6.30pm programme.

BBC Ten O'Clock News

BBC TV Centre posted:
Thought I'd better chuck this in here as it was roughly related to the 10 O'clock News and Huw Edwards ...

He got 'interviewed' on Steve Wright In the Afternoon yesterday and I thought that it might be some interest to members here.

Huw Edwards interview (WMA)

I wasn't too keen on Huw until I heard him in this interview. He seems like a great laugh, he doesn't seem to come across as interesting and bubbly when he's presenting the News.

Another BBC One Ident cock - up (second in less than a week)

It was quite funny actually, when the wrong Ident was shown, I heard someone groan very loudly. Laughing .
