…and finally

For me, TV Forum was the place to ask and read about presentation, television branding and other interesting things and facts on the media industry. Thank you Asa for creating such a great platform, and cheers to the moderators who have been moderating the forum for whole time.

But before I go, here are some clips to enjoy.

(And if you are looking for that particular, last ever "God Save the Queen" before the BBC News 24 launch, TV Ark has it for you.)

(Other renditions of "Auld Lang Syne" are also available: Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Dougie MacLean, Pentatonix)

And this is whoiam989, signing off for now. Moving on to the next destination, TV Live Forum!

International News Presentation: Past and Present

Et voilà ! The intro of first ever edition of Le fil at 5 on Noovo. I may have a detailed post on TV Live Forum later.

That said, it has been a pleasure to have a meaningful discussion on this very forum. Thank you for letting me ask, answer and have a chatter, and I'll see you on the other side!

Disney+ UK Launch Date Confirmed

Heck, the same can apply to Around the World in 80 Days (the Jackie Chan one) as it's a Disney film yet in the UK, it's on Netflix than on Disney+.

Wasn't it a Walden Media production?

International News Presentation: Past and Present

This might be (one of?) last post from me in this thread (and possibly on the entire TV Forum), but here it goes...

From early this year, the network edition of NVL on Noovo, a Candian French language TV network acquired by Bell Media (which owns English language CTV network) last year.

By the way, as promised during acquisition process, Bell Media has set up an in-house news division of Noovo, and will launch a newscast titled Le fil on 29 March this year. Here's a special feature (correct?) released ahead of the official launch:

And Noovo will air a special titled Le défi de l'info on 22 March at 10 PM Quebec time, providing an extended overview of their new news division.

Press releases (in English) from Bell Media so far:
Arrow Jean-Philippe Pineault to Lead V Newsrooms in Québec as General Manager, News and Information | 17 June 2020
Arrow Noémi Mercier, Lisa-Marie Blais, Michel Bherer and Meeker Guerrier Announced as News Anchors for Noovo | 2 December 2020
Arrow Noovo’s News Show Le fil to Debut on March 29 | 3 February 2021

YouTube Gold

Is there any actual context for what caused it, or did he just throw a tantrum seemingly out of nowhere?

I don't know, but according to a man from Iceland:

The Masked Singer UK...2021

Jonwo posted:
It's such a ridiculous show and even I've been tuning in over the last few weeks. I was completely gripped by it.

Damn those pesky South Koreans at MBC for coming up with a very watchable show.

We're getting I Can See Your Voice on BBC One soon which is also from MBC. Interesting that the hottest format in years is not from the likes of UK, Europe or USA.

For the record, although I Can See Your Voice is also a South Korean format, it was developed by another South Korean broadcaster, what is now CJ ENM's TV division, and was aired on one of their channels.

Sky News Australia

I wonder when will Sky UK finally revoke Sky News Australia's right to use "Sky News" name, since the British Sky is now a part of Comcast, while Sky News Australia remains to be a part of Rupert Murdoch's (new) News Corp. Also, will Sky News UK retain its partnership with its Australian 'cousin', or will they switch to Seven News as their new partner? (Seven News already partners with NBC, which is owned by Comcast.)

Ofcom revokes CGTN's broadcasting license

Just to let you know...

Breaking: Ofcom have just revoked CGTN's license to broadcast in the UK

If my guess is correct, "Star China Media" might be the same Star China Media, which is owned by China Media Capital (CMC), an equity company headed by Li Ruigang (who was a head of Shanghai Media Group). Star China Media was formed as a part of the sale of some of the old News Corp's (and subsequently 21st Century Fox's) assets in Mainland China, which were previously a part of Star TV (yes, once a major player in Asia-wide media landscape - not just India - that the new Disney+ portal is named after), to the CMC. The News Corp assets sold to the CMC at the time include Xing Kong Weishi (a Mandarin Chinese entertainment channel), the Mainland Chinese version of Channel V music channel, and Fortune Star library of Chinese language films.

It’s interesting that this is now an issue (although I’m hardly sad to see CGTN go). The channel has been on Sky (originally as CCTV-9) for at least 15 years. Obviously, under it’s old name it was clearly under the control of CCTV so it’s hardly like this is a new thing.

This must put RT (and possibly TRT World?) on pretty thin ice.

CCTV9 was more documentary oriented programmes wasn't it?.

The original CCTV-9 (the news channel in English, which is now the CGTN channel) was renamed CCTV News in April 2010. Months later, in January 2011, CCTV launched two documentary channels (in English and Mandarin Chinese each) named CCTV-9; the English version of the documentary channel is now named CGTN Documentary, while the Chinese version stayed as CCTV-9.

ASA ban "Jab&Go" Ryanair ads

Looks like media companies need to revise their editorial guidelines to prevent offending companies from gaining further free publicity.

By the way, is there any serious effort from British politicians to give ASA more power and authority?

I've seen TV Imedi in (the Republic of) Georgia using exactly same graphics on their newscasts. May be they both are using the same template (just like the late ATV in Hong Kong that has used some VideoHive template on their newscasts for certain years)?

International News Presentation: Past and Present

Sky TG24, Italy, 2020 (countdown/filler, commercials, TOTH headline sequence):

"Coming up on BBC On... I mean, Sky TG 24, Skyline , presented by Milo D'Agonisto."

An edition of East German television's Aktuelle Kamera from the summer of 1989 -- much of the newscast is devoted to the opening of the World Festival of Youth and Students in Pyongyang, North Korea:

North Korea held that festival because it was so jealous of those in the southern side of border which successfully managed to hold summer Olympics and Paralympics in Seoul the previous year. But after pouring all their resources into what was supposed to showcase the regime's supremacy, North Korea's economy flopped in the years that followed and hasn't managed to recover, unlike South Korea.
