What do you think of the new 10 WW Update!!!?

I love it! It's fresh, clean and modern. I just wished they still had dual anchors at 5 p.m.; I think the old format suited their brand better.

By the way, do we know if WIN News has any plans for a refresh?

WIN have adopted the new pres, but their news will go unchanged (for now).

The RTE News Thread

In my experience of visiting Ireland, notably Dublin, most places seem to have Sky News on at all hours. I think certainly there are those who look towards the UK for breakfast TV.

Sky News had a little run where it tried to heavily target Ireland, creating Ireland-only news bulletins. It treats Ireland as part of its broadcasting patch so it's going to be slightly more relevant to people in the country than the BBC, which has never quite worked out what to do with Ireland and seems to leave it to Northern Ireland to cover.

Slightly strange, this. Breaking news, but the L3s aren't in red. *

North American Affilliates/Network Set Design

Though they are saddled with the rubbish FOX lower thirds.

They look completely out of place with the intro and the new set.

None of it matters anyway. According to TMZ moments ago.... she is gone from NBC.

It was never going to last. I don't think anyone has come back from comments like that (at least in recent memory).

Bombs sent to CNN NYC Studio, Clintons, Obama's & others

Poppy and Jim no long on phones and Facetime, they are now on a Dejero type unit with real microphones at they are reporting live and being moved away from the scene, walking and talking.

On a side note: CNN alum Wolf Blitzer is holding the line on the CNN NY/CNN HQ/CNN CENTER business. He is calling it CNN's NY office or CNN NY Bureau or the TimeWarner Center. Some of the younger anchors/reporters have made the mistake of saying CNN Headquarters/CNN Center. There was even a lower third that said "CNN Center". Wolf corrects them each time. Laughing

On MSNBC on screen they are calling it CNN in NY or CNN NY Hub.

Why is it still Time Warner Center? The company's been called Warner Media for a good few months now.

Heart TV & Capital TV Leave Freesat

Having been one of the first ever students of The Global Academy in Hayes, I was lucky enough to visit Global HQ in LSQ several times over the course of my two years there and I got to see, first hand, how Global are re-shaping the business.

What is the purpose of it?

I don't think they'll nab the Sam Mularczyk branding

I honestly wouldn't mind if they did though.

BBC Cuts

A better use of BBC national radio FM frequencies. As happening in Wales next week when a dozen or so Radio 3 frequencies are reallocated to BBC Radio Wales to provide near national coverage of the English language service on FM. (R3 continues to use DAB, online, Freeview etc in the affected areas).

My idea was to lease unused FM frequencies to smaller stations. It would be a source of money for the BBC, would put the frequencies to good use, and increase diversity in radio (i.e there would be more stations that are owned by someone other than either the BBC, Global, Bauer or the Wireless Group)

BBC World/BBC News - Technical Issues Again??

Since Media City is the backup site and runs Mozart, could they have built the show while connected to Media City’s servers? I imagine for the next few days people will be copying and pasting their scripts in emails.

that sounds feasible.
