BBC World News | 30th October 2017 Onwards

Been watching since the start.

A few little stumbling over words from Sally, which isn't a surprise with a brand new format.

The vamp at the start of the hour is lovely, and reminds me of The World Today from the red and cream era with the deep bass tone. Actually the whole music package is just lovely.

Titles I would say are an evolution of what we have seen before. Although there also seems to be a nod to BBC Breakfast circles in the titles, including below the strap and ticker when the headlines are put on screen

There is a different London view on the video wall.

Really nice relaunch of this long standing slot.

I have no way of video capture I'm sorry

Shows that people forget or get lost in time

Really surprised that Channel 4's Network 7 hasn't had a mention yet. Was fascinated by this when I was a teenager. Especially as S4C broadcast it at Sunday lunchtime along with Channel 4.

UK General Election

With the sudden death of Rhodri Morgan yesterday, campaigning in Wales has been suspended today. Does that mean ITV will have lost another leader from tonight's broadcast?

BBC Breakfast

Dan Walker just mentioned that "due to the unique way the BBC is funded" they only have one mic at their Bristol OB. That does appear to be the case. Is this normal, and just covered slightly better than then pass-the-parcel game they are currently playing?

BBC World News from New Broadcasting House

Apologies, in work so no access to TV.

Are the simulcast of News Channel using the "Welcome to BBC News, broadcasting to viewers at home and around the world" intro?

All Time Favourite Theme Tunes

Very underrated, and oft-forgotten in the BBC's pantheon of excellent sport themes. (From 0:32)

Shamefully I had forgotten about that

Queen @90

Good point

An elderly guest made it very clear on air how disappointed she was as she had been told by the BBC that she would be at Windsor today.

There was a vague acknowledgment from Victoria that was the original plan, and she mentioned problems with access or something vague like that.

That was either very bad planning and presumption from the production team, or maybe there was a reason why they couldn't go ahead with Plan A? Have noticed that some of likely suspect programmes have been studio based with a live reporter based somewhere around the castle area, normal news style

Unsure if appropriate to post feel free to delete if not , but due to a guest verbal slip-up on Victoria Derbyshire this morning, it seems that some live Windsor broadcast plans have had to change

BBC Breakfast

Does the News Channel take Breakfast directly from Salford or via BBC1 (until the split)

Might be handy for them to take it via NC1 where the output is being monitored and there will be apology announcements etc if it did fall off air

Looks like they take it direct from Salford, as the News Channel stuck with it whilst BBC 1 had cut away. You see the film review pause then restart which is the point that BBC 1 rejoined.

BBC Breakfast

A few technical problems on Breakfast this morning, with the repeat of the Film Review. Pictures kept on cutting back to an empty shot of the sofa the back to the film review.

I'm guessing it was BBC One presentation that cut in with a still image of the Breakfast titles with the BBC News box replaced by a BBC One box. The film review was started again from the start, but we were still "treated" to a few cuts back to the empty sofa. Interestingly at the same place, so would this have been an automation error?

Brussels Airport explosions coverage

mark posted:
ITV still seem to be reporting on their graphics that four Brussels metro stations are 'under attack', which no-one else seems to be saying. If that's unconfirmed or untrue, they really need to retract it.

Oh gosh yes! I was expecting that to be on the ticker, and was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it part of their main story strap.

Headline has been removed just as they go off the air, and handover to This Morning
