On the other hand, they have greater flexibility and don’t have vast spaces sitting empty for most of the time.

Exactly. These three special programmes are coming from a studio that has seen Thronecast, cricket, football, Skavlan in the past two years, and recently spent time as a socially-distanced EVS room for the Premier League. As a real studio rather than a glorified newsroom, it's vastly more flexible.

GB News Launches on Social Media

They seem to be bigging up their newsroom possibly suggests we might see a bbc news studio E type studio. If it really is the most advanced newsroom in Britain I can’t imagine they’ll want to hide it away.

I think you might've missed the "entirely cloud-based newsroom" bit...

BBC THREE versus BBC SCOTLAND

Apparently BBC3's production team is being transferred over to BBC Studios. I wonder why? https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/bbc/bbcs-to-house-bbc3-production-team/5156917.article

Presumably so there is better integration with those who make the programmes rather than those who primarily just commission programmes?

Surprised somebody hasn’t speculated yet whether it might be a hint towards a new look.

We may not be fans of Studio 6 on here but it’s the only one of the main Sky News studios they haven’t had to abandon at short notice recently

Well, I was just about to suggest that, but then along came the promo of Sophy(ie) Ridge's special programme in a delightedly deep blue set. So I think can we agree that that will be the new look. It does look quite smart though, so speculation or otherwise, it would make a pleasant change of scenery.

This is a temporary set in Studio 4 I think... here is the promo if anyone missed it:

And now the Millbank studio has broken, so Niall is sat in the Millbank DTL position for Sky News Breakfast this morning...

"Campaigning" is what political parties do, not impartial news broadcasters.

I remember a fruitless campaign that was thrust down our throats endlessly to get TV debates at elections. Took what seemed a year and a day to reach 100k signatures.

Sky News is launching a campaign to make leaders' TV debates a permanent election fixture. Sir @nick_clegg and @AmberRuddHR are backing it after party leaders avoided going head-to-head in 2015 and 2017 #MakeDebatesHappen

Here's another one:-

Let's be real though, the second one was a Sky Ocean Rescue campaign, nothing to do with Sky News beyond being shared by the Head of Sky News on Twitter... hardly "campaigning" by a news broadcaster.

I hope but the rush that has apparently taken place this morning rather suggests a last minute problem with the Glass Box.

Whatever it was, it was fixed enough for presentation to come from there at 2pm onwards. I don't think we've seen anything other than Sam Washington sat in the normal position on a mid-shot, though.

The screen is being used now in the 3pm hour; so all appears well.

Have we ever seen the evening shift 9pm/News at Ten come from studio 6?

Yep, it's happened a few times.

I wonder what’s going on at the Glass Box? Just technical issues or prepare for a new look that was mentioned on here?

Out of interest, despite Adam Boulton announcing live that Biden had won the election, here's is Kay's pre-recorded narration of the same sequence shared by Sky Creative...

The clean music for America Decides is also on there: https://vimeo.com/491248780

A bit of perspective in this thread...

Firstly these two men are still employed by Sky. Spitting at a fourteen year old and swearing at a colleague. Not seen either of these two necessarily should’ve been sacked, but I’d argue both are worse transgressions.

It is worth pointing out here that Carragher was taken off air in March 2018 and didn’t appear again until July 2018. It wasn’t like he was let off and appeared as normal the next week - he was suspended by Sky for a significant period of time.

Live Test Cricket returns to C4

Sunset & Vine - well, getting the old gang back!
Suspect then studio pres will be done at BT Sport/Timeline. Probably using the same set up as they used for the Ashes coverage a couple of years ago.

Time to re-configure the massive screens infront of the sofas once more! Very Happy

Don't Sunset + Vine have their own studios? Think it is Whisper who tend to use BT/Timeline more.

You may be thinking of IMG. S&V's website makes reference to edit suites at the HQ and a 'camera resource' but not studios.

I say studio maybe at BT Sport/Timeline as S&V produced the ashes coverage a couple of years back for BTSport so given the quick turnaround in production needed, they know what technicals they can be provided at very short notice.

I know there was a small "content studio" at S+V HQ in Hammersmith but that was nothing bigger than a small room which had a cyc round it and a few lights on stands - ideal for an interview, definitely not ideal for a studio wraparound.

S+V Cymru do (or maybe did?) have some degree of studio facilities as part of Tinopolis' HQ in Llanelli, for what it's worth.

Sky news experiencing some technical problems from 3am GMT. During a report the screen went blank and cut to an advertisement for ‘the pledge’ but with the sound of the report still playing. The ticker was also gone from TOTH until about 3:10am.

I didn't think the pledge was still running.

It isn’t. The graphic is part of the long-established gallery test procedure, so it’s still in the system.
