ITV is preparing to unveil an entirely new identity later this year, shortly after the company celebrates 50 years since its creation. It will be the broadcaster's fifth identity in the past decade.

Hopefully the lowercase i t v in that awful font will disappear as well.

YIPPY DOO...I CAN'T WAIT. THANK GOD THE BLUE AND YELLOW IS GOING. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT MADE ITV LOOK LIKE A PARROTT ANYWAY!!

Only someone with the brain of a parrot would spell parrot with 2 T's! I mean, come on! It's hardly a difficult word to spell!

Former Announcers dining in Hell's Kitchen

Funky Guy posted:
ITV obviously want young trendy voices on their channels not sure why Confused
The current ITV team don't have a clue about the regional programmes on Border and this is reflected in their announcements "This ITV Border" very creative. Maggie Mash is probably horrified when she hears them all.The older women that was on one of the UK TV channels has also been replaced by a younger girl.

With the exception of Graham Rogers and Paul Seed - the others sound high-pitched -squeeky - some even say ITV2 when they mean ITV1. I've even heard them promoting the wrong programme, at the wrong time on the wrong day!!! (Even one Scottish chap promoting the wrong characters when introducing Emmerdale some months ago)
Please, whoever is in charge, a little care is needed when training these people.

Eamonn says farewell to GMTV

what will be the replacement for him?

A sack of spuds to replace him, and a sqwarking parrot wearing a blonde wig to replace her.

Yes, what is that programme all about? They have a very odd way of presentation and a real mish-mash of news and features, all presented in a very unusual way. Love the way the presenters keep swapping sides on the sofa during the break. Hate the way they ignore most of the heavy news stories and concentrate on the showbiz crap, is anybody really interested if the red carpet was out last night for Ewan MacGragor at his latest film premiere at Leicester Square?
And please, somebody push Fiona off the sofa!

They should look around the regions at some of the possible replacements for Eammon. After all - he began his career at Ulster Television in Belfast. What about Glen Thompsett who presents for Meridian South East (he's got loads of telly experience) or Peter Rowell at HTV (ITV West News) or what about Andy Craig (Meridian News West)

Meridian South East

It took a little while - but according to the latest BARB audience figures, BBC South East Today is gaining considerable audiences and Meridian's East Service (which for so long was the way-ahead leader) is loosing audience. Surely this HAS to be a reflection on the service moving away from it's patch and the combination of dreadful presenters now being put in front of the camera. While a few may be great reporters - it's something different holding it together in the studio and projecting any sort of personality.

Correction ...nearly six years old and whatsmore being shown on two American channels - so yes - he does get about. I even heard him doing continuity on ITV3 the other night....watchout - he'll soon be back on ITV1. Must have a very good agent! Rolling Eyes

No - I think he's far more suited to reading the news - a natural. Unlike so many of these reporters that try to read. Why don't news editors realise that presenting and reporting are two totally different skills?

ITV Regional News to lose their regional names!

Kirky Cheshire posted:
If these claims are true (not saying they are), then all ITV could be doing is sticking the ITV News logo underneath the name, in much the same way that BBC puts BBC News at the bottom of the screen on there regional news.

I see that Meridian have now moved to the new site in Whiteley, Hampshire - somewhere between Fareham and Southampton. Another nail in the coffin for ITV regional news. Hey I've come up with a great slogan. ITV NEWS FOR THE REGIONS - BROADCAST OUTSIDE THE REGIONS. It may just catch on. And whilst I'm on the subject - why on earth have Meridian's south east programme employed that monkey Phil Hornby the present the main programme? He looks awful. Nice guy that I'm sure he is - he looks very uncomfortable.

ITV Technical problems?

Andrew posted:
Scottish Paul handled that quite poorly. He took an age to start talking and then when he did start talking he rambled on about something that was hard to understand.

He never actually aplogised that it was the weather that had gone awol either!

Also, I'm sure it's the same music everytime on ITV1 when it's a problem nationally.

Yes, he handled it with all the gusto of a very ill prepared announcer. He even mentioned someone in Emmerdale that doesn't even appear in Emmerdale. Terrible. Wouldn't have happened in days gone by!!

Gmtv Problems

GMTV_journalist posted:
Did anyone have any problems in ITV WALES, when gmtv went to regional news, the GMTV logo came on and the old GMTV theme was played.
And during the regional news the theme was played

As far as I can see, there's only ONE major problem with GMTV. It has to be Fiona Phillips. She HAS to be the worst TV presenter ever. She spends more time looking at the coffee table than the camera or her guests - but then when your married to the boss..........

Corrie goes 8 times a week

Brekkie Boy posted:
From November 21st, Coronation Street will be screened eight times in one week as ITV1 attempts to boost its audience share to avoid refunding advertisers.

7 episodes of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! will screen over the week at 9pm, with shows on Thursday at 8pm and 10pm - while the Tuesday show is put back to 9.45pm.

6 episodes of Emmerdale will also screen, with ITV "ordering" an extra episode for the Sunday night 7pm slot (to replace the usual thing they show at 7pm on a Sunday Wink )

Good to see a nice varied primetime line up from ITV1 then!

Yes - this 'one ITV' business has certainly revolutionised British TV Standards hasn't it!!
Won't be long before the ITV1 schedule is 'stripped' across the week - giving you exactly the same programmes at exactily the same time not 5 but 7 days a week. Who was it that said the ITV regions were dull???

ITV Weather Cock-up

ITV National Weather had a few problems tonight.

Where the audio fizzled until it totally disappeared. We saw Chrissy Reidy continue without any sound until the weather began again all the way from the start!

Then half way through a graphic appeared to confirm that there were a sound problem!

Chrissy was then cut off in her prime for the Powergen sponsorship!

Why the Hell did the duty announcer not leap in and do a rundown of the evening programmes? Maybe a muinute and a half is too much for some people to fill.

Yes - it would have made much more sense to have junked the weather forecast in favour of somehting else.

New ITV 1 Announcer

Steve Hyden posted:
Enough of New ITV1 Announcers.... nice to hear Trish Bertram on daytime today - although at a weekend she should really be doing Sat Nights!

Ah - couldn't agree with you more Mr Hyden. The quality just shines through. The clarity - diction - correct intonation - and right sales pitch is what sets Trish and her former ITV pals world's apart from the new breed. With ITV1's new idents from November featuring programme clips and doing away with the current 'celeb' idents - the job of 'selling' ITV to the viewing public will make the job much tougher, so will the current team hack it?
If only Greg Dyke would return to run ITV - he might just decide to take back his old LWT players - come on Greg - we miss you!!
