Hardly any ads on ITV1

I've seen a good advert these past couple of days where some animated bloke is coughing (exactly how I feel now Sad ) and it ends with 'Shut that cough up!'

I can't remember the name for the product.

Is that the advert which has 'Al' (from Al and Monkey) doing the voiceover. It certainly sounds like him!!

Are you thick or what?!?!?!

On the homepage, scroll down and there is a white box with a combo box. Select your choice and click Vote!

Is it THAT hard?!

I'm not thick:)

it was'nt there earlyier.

Max

That was probably my fault. I only realised you were still blocked, and unblocked you about 5 minutes ago. Bravenet probably detected you were blocked, and didn't display the voting box.

Sorry about that, Terence

Thanks to all the people who voted in the poll about Revision 4. I have edited this post, now that the polling is closed, so some posts after this may not make sense.

ITV 1 Hits Channel TV

As Teletext is independant though, you may not need to worry. They've probably done the same on all regions(i know they have in the North East), but it doesn't necessarily mean Channel has given in(We can hope...).

The BBC, for example, dont refer to ITV1 on Ceefax, still referring to the regional names. I think it's entirely the choice of the teletext broadcaster.

itv1 xmas idents

Quote:

The generic ident is probably used for ease in Leeds for announcements across the North, the announcer can mention ITV1 which is better than e.g. 'the news in half an hour now Coranation Street'
I don't understand. How is having your regional logo and ITV1 logo stopping the announcer from normally saying ITV1 (or even, shock, the region name!)?

Cheers, Asa

And Anyway, they still say the region's name(sometimes) over junctions into regional programmes, despite them still using the ITV1 Xmas ident.

BBC ONE and BBC TWO xmas idents

Quote:
Asa on 6:51 pm on Dec. 21, 2001
I'm actually impressed with the BBC Two one (just the one AFAIK although it did seem to have a very quick trailer animation - something not seen on BBC Two since the relaunch). Nice to see the lack of url.

I actually get the feeling more time was spent over this. Bit more explosive. Let's see what BBC One is like...

Cheers, Asa

I agree with you there. I actually like the BBC2 one I saw before the 2nd better than the non-Xmas ones. That explosion certainly puts alot of life into the ident!!

If they come up with more good idents like this, I think I could actually get to like that BBC2 Character!!

No, I haven't forgotten about updates, Its just that Ive been working on the big update in Revision 4 for January 5th.

However, I have updated it this weekend with BBC1 and BBC2's Xmas idents for 2001. ITV can wait till the new year though!!!

Theres also a new forum for the site, which doesn't oficially launch until January, but its there anyway.

Advertising Advertising last night

On Tyne Tees last night, at the 9.45 break in the Bill, went out a strange advert which I cant recall being around for a hell of a long time.

They were promoting advertising on Tyne Tees, and they kept showing clips of the ITV1 TTTV ident. Just goes to show how badly they need ad revenue.

Funny isnt it, though, that it was constantly referred to as Tyne Tees and never 'ITV1'. What a surprise that they market it regionally when it suits them!!!

What did the other GMG stations do?

Citv at 1:30

Hymagumba posted:
oh god I remember that. I consisted of a single picture of a griffitied wall and a single voice over. Then there were those awful WHAT DOES CITV STAND FOR trails where they came up with ridiculous ideas.

(Shudders visibly, and cowers in a corner.)

Whats worse is, the annoying guy who used to do the V/O(Trying desperately to sound different, but never succeeding) still works for CITV, doing the voices of characters on Tellytots.... Noooo, they're too young for that kind of torture!!!

Touching Evil, IIRC.

Thats the one!!! What worries me, is it was filmed by a TV crew from somewhere else in the country... Just how infamous is that Bus Station!!!?

WWTBAM Cock-Up

Andrew posted:
Just before the end of Part 2 during tonight's Millionaire quiz (as one of the YTV Announcers calls it), the programme was cut off by a breakbumper and a British Gas advert.

After the advert we returned to the programme, and it was time for a break.

Surprise surprise, the first advert was one for British Gas.

Did this happen elsewhere........?

I think exactly the same thing was on TTTV as what you saw on Yorkshire(Would make sense wouldnt it!!), I dunno, but I'll go through it anyway. Some contestant on Millionaire reached £200. Sudden cut to advert break. Did about 1 ad, then got halfway through British Gas before cutting back to millionaire to go into break properly. At starts of official break, about half of a second of some other ad, before continuing the British gas ad where it left off. Break continues as normal, only now TTTV is running about 1 minute ahead. Thus the last 3 adverts, of which I can recall there was an AOL ad, were repeated twice to catch up. Millionaire comes back on at £500 question - I demand to see the £300-er!!!!!

Tom and Danielle Gone!

Out of all of them Stephen Mulhern is the only good one because he doesn't overact to stuff. Plus he's been there since CITV relaunched in May 1998.

It is weird because at the start of 2000 there was 4 Stephen (98-Present), Danielle (98-01), Nicola who wasn't there long and Tom who was only there for a year and a half! These people aren't going to get good jobs because no one reconisges them execpt kids under 12.

Does anyone remember CITV on ITV2 ? I thought it was a good idea that but they got rid of it.

Wrong! Her name was not Nicola, it was Andrea. Andrea Greene in fact Smile

I knew it!!! They all though I was mad!! Ithought there was a fourth person, who disappeared shortly afterwards! I can now sleep soundly at night.

Myself, I think something has been planned for a while. The introduction of the new people in September seemed very underhanded to me. They had a vote to select 2 out of 4 people, then decided 'oh well, the vote was so close, we'll have 3 instead'. Did ITV have any intention of listening to viewers, as I somewhat doubt they would change their minds about paying 3 rather than 2 in such a short space of time.
