ITV SignPost

Probably more by luck than any real skill mind. If the first Google Image result for 'Tyne Tees 1998' hadn't returned that image from a Youtube Video uploaded by whyayetv, they'd have just used whatever else came up first instead!

That said when it comes to anything non-programme-related, I don't know how much is likely still held in the ITV Archives now due to the limited commercial value, and even if it is it's probably a bit of a ballache to get access to by anyone outside the building - certainly a lot more effort than a third party web agency in Wakefield gathering content quickly for a website is ever going to go to. Largely the same reason that whenever they show things from the birthday spot on Tyne Tees' history lookbacks, it's always a clip lifted off a VHS grab on TV Whirl from when Kathy Secker passed away rather than anyone being able to dig into a proper archive from the 90s.

Freeview channels thread

Doesn't look like this got mentioned at the time (only saw comments about the channel DOG changing in the UKTV thread). But according to posts the switchover of playout from UKTV to Discovery happened in late November. I'm assuming this was around the 20th/21st as Really seem to have dropped all the people idents in favour of a single one since then.

BBC One Christmas 2019

The next ident in the festive set, as it first aired at 00.15 (ish) across BBC One Wales and BBC One Northern Ireland. Apologies as I'd missed Scotland had a late opt-out last night, so didn't go to the news at the same time as everyone else. All it was missing really was a cover of Somewhere Only We Know!

I was in the process of posting it too, but then threads seemed to start appearing and disappearing. But yes NI have let the cat out of the bag first with one of the new idents for this year. I'm guessing it'll hit the other nations in the 9pm junction.

And the expected third ident for the evening, aired from 6pm. No huge surprises abound! It's almost like they produced news-safe idents for the whole day.

Mind, given they failed to schedule two of the advent calendar idents completely a few years back, I wonder how long it'll be before they manage to make a mistake queuing up several different times of day idents.

BBC Two 2018 Revamp

Wales viewers got a marginally longer playout of it, despite being one of the usual junctions using the exact same script as network. Northern Ireland didn't show it at all in this junction (although they did use their own script).

Not a bad piece for this week (certainly better than a lot of them). But from what I've seen so far it does seem to back to another one of those where it feels like the artist built a random piece they liked first, then just tacked an ITV logo on at the end. Even the token detail of a cup of tea talked about is contained to the ITV logo rather than being worked in anywhere else.



I expect there'll be a video of the kid talking to camera about it in the next day or so. For those who didn't spot it by the way, he got called out in the comments on the first video and apparently most of the clean audio tracks were just lifted from the 'behind the scenes' video by Toffo which was posted in this thread a few months back. And according to the poster of that one, even they were ultimately just cut from the various official ITV Creates videos over the months - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5EyovgzcKg

(With all this repackaging of the same things again and again under new titles, some of these people should look forward to a great job as a commissioner at Channel 5! )

Well it had to happen sooner or later with the wrong playout at 6am (clock change screwup perhaps?). The announcement mentions the new look from Kochi Kochi, but still has the NEON ident being played!

BBC Scotland - the launch

If anything, the still screengrabs don't really do this one justice compared to the actual video. When in motion, you can see the shark moving in front of the logo, and also see the logo move about in the water rather than just looking stuck there.

(Although it does remind me somewhat of Channel 5, who got there with that same idea about 14 years ago now, during their 'five' days!)

Spotted going out this evening, it appears Channel 4 have gotten onto the current mental health awareness thing too with a re-edited version of their idents.
