Sky Movies channels to be renamed

Why do they bother rebranding film channels? To me they're still Screen1, Screen2 etc.

It's just like the time RTE Ireland spent a fortune rebranding RTE2 to Network 2 . We still called it RTE2 anyway so it became RTE Network 2 and then RTE2 again. The same will happen to Sky, ITV and BBC eventually. And after the Digital Switchover, the names Ch4, E4, More4 and Film 4 will have no significance whatsoever....

BBC News countdown mix

Oh. Not bad but again - nothing that different to the original.

Nuacht TG4 (TG4 News, Ireland)

Does anyone know if Nuacht TG4 will get a revamp this year? I know there isn't usually any info before (or even after) TG4 revamp their news but the current look has been around since 2004 and Nuacht usually revamp a year after RTE News.

Maybe they'll revamp the whole channel in April, when TG4 becomes completely independent of RTE (Apart from Nuacht, Ros na Rún (a soap opera) and an hour a day of other programmes).

They might stick RTE branding on Nuacht TG4 in April, creating something like Nuacht RTE ar TG4 . It wouldn't really be that unusual - even Newyddion (sp) on S4C carries BBC branding and a similar pres style.

BBC News countdown mix

It's not too bad but there's nothing that original to it. All the images have been broadcast before - putting them in a different order doesn't make a difference to a sequence that very few people actually pay attention to (apart from the actual countdown clock).

stv - new look mock

There's a channel called "Channel S" in the International Channels section of Sky. This mock looks like their logo (or what I've seen of it).

Early 90s BSB. Wouldn't work now.

That's the point I made in my original post..... And what does Will Young's acting career have to do with Pop Idol ? BTW Spirit in the Sky was a Comic Relief song, not a hit.

Look at Shane Ward - it only took him 6 months to write an autobiography. His time in the shoe shop must have been pretty interesting.

RTÉ News

Going off topic for a minute

Now, I know you guys are great at picking apart news reports, as I have stated before. I recently made a news report on a body exhibit at a museum in my hometown. I was wondering if you can take a look at it and pick it apart for me?

Many thanks

The shots of people being interviewed could have been better - the angles weren't great and you could have zoomed in further. Also, the lady talking about the lung cancer thing stretched on a bit.

The astons showing facts about the show could have been replaced by one PowerPoint-style slide. They don't really attract attention and flash on and off screen too quickly.

Some parts could have been shortened a bit, but it's not bad.

ITN News Channel 2007

So what about the theme tune? The current ITV one with Big Ben? The original? Or the one they currently use on the 3G updates?

I am thinking along the lines of what they use now on their on demand services, but with a hint of the old ITN News Channel music in their too.

The old ITN NC music was great and I like the style of the current demand updates but that's really only because it's clear and concise when all you want is a brief update. As much as I like it, I can't picture it working on a TV station, especially because it would be on at least 4 times an hour as an intro to a full bulletin.

Who Wants to be a Journalist?

Sounds like a TV show. Surprised actually there hasn't been an Apprentice style "Newsreader Idol" format somewhere - though I vaguely recall a feature on something years ago in which someone became a newsreader.

It was on ITV1 Wales wasnt it or was that to become a tv presenter rather than newsreader?

Faking it - the episode where the girl produced the Channel 4 News and Jon Snow thaught she was a pro.

Actually Will Young is still doing fairly well, Gareth Gates not so much but that's more Simon Cowell's (or whoever manages them) fault than anyone else

it wasn't only wrong Johnny, but complete nonsensical gibberish. never seen anyone edit an entire post rather than defend it though

Whatever haven't heard of either of them in 5 years. My post basically said that Leona isn't that great and the song is typical of reality TV and I stand by it. How many manufactured acts that have done well for more than a few years (other than Kelly Clarkson and Girls Aloud, and I wonder why...) can you name?
