Sky News: Presentation Discussion
Does anyone else think the channel is due for another revamp before long? Everything just seems so stale again at the moment. The graphics have only had slight modifications since they first arrived in 2008. The same presenters have been stook in the same slots for so long and the studio is just looking cheap and dated (In particular the main desk). Not to complain too much, but when comparing the overall presentation to that of the 2005 and pre 2005 era, everything appeared to be far more lively and watchable back then.

Using this 3 paper reviewer format seems to be working very well. Maybe something to consider on a more permanent basis?

She was on-air last week, I recall a particularly heated interview with Chris Grayling following on from PMQs.
Stephen Dixon posted on twitter a couple of weeks ago, that the policy for holidays is use it, or lose it. So surely, like any normal person, you would use any entitlement that you are given? Or is it because shes a TV presenter, she's not allowed time off?
That's true she was on last week. However for the last few months or so, she only seems to mainly be presenting for about 2 days a week. The amount of time she has been off lately would have surely used up all of her holiday?

What has happened to Kay Burley lately? It seems to be very rare for her to be presenting these days.

I know these responses are not the official line, but to me these just sound like excuses to cut back on production. If they are trying to cut down on the personality aspects of the programming, then why have they recently started two new programmes (Boulton and Co and Murnaghan) and named them after the presenters? Surely if it was not about personalities then these should have simply been branded as 'Sky News'?

Whats even more baffling is, why is the UK Sky News opting for this simple form of sitting down presentation, when it is obvious the new Sky News Arabia is going in a complete different direction? The You tube of the Sky News Arabia Set that was posted on here a few weeks ago shows multiple presentation points!

I know it's early days but this new schedule and set up is just ridiculous. It's only been a few hours and it already seems stale. If it is to continue from the desk I really think they need to make the move back to double headed presentation. It just makes it more varied and allows for that little bit of banter for the less serious stories. Given how successful sunrise is at the moment, Maybe even a sunrise style format for the rest of the day but presented from the desk?

Not sure if this has any significance either, but the EPG for next weekends sunrise states "Sunrise with Gillian Joseph" on the hour, then half way through the hour it is titled as "Sunrise with Mark Longhurst". Could this indicate a return to double headed presentation maybe?
