Good Morning Britain - 2015 Refresh/Tweaks

Am I the only person who thinks GMB is actually quite good? I think the team is brilliant and professional and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tone of the show is spot on for the morning (informative, yet not too serious ) and personally, I think the GMB is the strongest breakfast show ITV have had in years!

Sky News: Presenters & Rotas

Niall Paterson has had quite a high profile, presenting many of the key slots over the Christmas period. He's becoming a very good presenter. I could see him presenting his own slot in the near future, should one become available.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

Having had chance to properly watch the new double headed sky news today, I have I say it does work very well. Colin and Jayne make a very good team. Hopefully it will be rolled out to the rest of the channel in the future. The only downside being the cramped studio space they are currently presenting in but hopefully this will also be changed in the near future.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

The channel on a whole is just going further and further down hill. It's events such as tonight that make you realise what a shadow of its former self the channel has become.

Sky News: Presenters & Rotas

Where is Jon Craig?

Also with the amount of time Adam Boulton has been covering such events, you'd think he is the political editor still.

I think he's best sticking to being political editor rather than presenting!

Sky News: Presenters & Rotas

Interesting that sky have chosen to largely use correspondents and reporters to present for the Scotland results. (Niall Patterson in Scotland, Ed Conway and Sophy Ridge at sky centre). Ed Conway also seems to be the new Martin Stanford at the news screen these days. He seems to regularly be the news screen presenter for 'news events'.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

Luke posted:
not really sold on 'Sky News Tonight', from the editions I've seen. just feels like a regular two hours of Sky News which is fine, but don't pretend it's some radical departure from the rest of the day. doesn't help that Adam Boulton is, and always has been, a very poor presenter.

Have to agree. It sort of feels like it's on at the wrong time in the day. Whilst the first few days of the presentation initially looked quite promising, I think it will tire very quickly. It's looking a bit cheap and a bit too confined to a small space. I do like the format, but it's just not working at the time of day/ space it comes from.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

Does anyone else feel that the Westminster studio is becoming far more superior to Sky News centre? Westminster is a much smaller space, yet the space is utilised much move effectively. Sky centre just feels so dated now. If the fins were removed and the newsroom was opened up a bit more, it might appear a bit better and less cluttered (Along with a new desk). Either that or using the big screen as a backdrop for sky news today and go back to a design similar to that prior to the 2005 move.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

Well Sky News tonight presentation is great. Hopefully this will filter through to Sky News today eventually. I wonder if they could switch the laptops on Sky News today to tablets?

Sky News presentation - new newswall

A few video clips and images of rehearsals for sky news tonight on the twitter page (@skynewstonight) . All looking promising so far. In fact, I'd go as far as saying the Westminster studio is looking in far better condition than sky news centre. Looking at the image that has been posted, it looks similar to a screen that was playing in the gallery background during the 7pm hour today. From what I could make out, it appeared as though new graphics were being used. (However it was seen through a blurry background screen, so I could be entirely wrong).

Also we haven't heard anything about the weekend lineup. Will there be doubled headed pres on Fri-Sun. Thought there may have been room for a role for Andrew Wilson - possibly alongside Anna Botting from 9-12.

On the contrary, Martin Stanford is already recently-established as the face of Digital View and the other Saturday mid-morning strands, Andrew Wilson has been JT's weekend counterpart for a number of years, and I answered the question about Stephen and Gillian, so there's not much else to say.

Will Lorna become a cover presenter if she is losing her current strand? Then there is still 2 to 5 on weekends and Sundays 12 till 2? (Presuming there are no major changes at the weekend?) Also a weekend Sky News Tonight? Martin seems to have had his air time significantly reduced.

Sky News presentation - new newswall

This all sounds very promising and definitely a step in the right direction. However, I'd quite like to see them go further with the double headed presentation. It may seem a bit odd having double headed presenting for part of the day and then single headed for the rest. A return to the Kay and Mark days could work quite well. I also wonder where this leaves the likes of Martin Stanford, Lorna Dunkley and Samantha Simmonds? (who all deserve a prominent part of the schedule. It's also going to be interesting how the double headed presenting is going to work in the current studio? In the past it's looked a bit awkward having 2 presenters at the current desk. Just a bit of a guess here, but could this possibly be a trial of a new format, leading to a wider studio revamp prior to the election?
