Your views on the Christmas Day & Boxing Day Telly

And also how come they are showing some 16x9 material in 14x9 - I'm sure some of it was from original widescreen productions.

The Young Visiters was good incidentally.

Impressed, it even got the Aspect Ratio right! I thought perhaps my cat had stepped on the remote as he's been known to do when he wants to watch TV...

BBC News 24 Relaunch

One thing I noticed from my near-nightly viewing of ABC's World News Tonight is the system didn't quite seem so sure of what it was doing last night in terms of the Recorded DOGs etc.

At the beginning, a Recorded Aston flashed up at the bottom of the screen - then one came up at the top left of the screen with an empty Live bug, with the Recorded next to it in a black box. This of course laid over the top of head etc.

Does there really have to be a Recorded DOG etc on such programming? I'm not trying to provoke a DOG arguement here at all, because I can't stand them, but I just don't see the point of the Recorded bug/dog etc - everyone can tell it's an American show just by looking at it! hehe

Oh - and I think I've seen about 100 (not literally) BREAKING NEWS astons today, for just about everything - could you not have a Just In... (CNN style) aston for slightly less important 'New' news?

England Victory Parade

What exactly do you mean, that "they can't seem to provide coverage of England winning World championships"?

That the BBC didnt acually pay for the rights to show the tournament live but are happy to show the parade to cash in on the success?

Or perhaps that ITV are happy to show what suits them (i.e. just the Rugby World Cup) and not bother to show coverage of what goes on in the next 4 years...

ITV News are flagging it up by saying that ITV1 is the only place where you will also see clips of the final during the show

BBC Sport have signed a deal with the International Rugby Board (I think thats the right name?) for rights to shows clips til the end of the year, so perhaps this might now have changed?

New BBC Three Ident...

fanoftv posted:
So effectively there are 1000's of slightly different BBC FOUR idents, as everyone is different!?

Effectively yes, but they are based on about 13 odd generic designs (the colour washes, and type of audio reaction used) so they are based on the same principle, but just every time they are used the reactions used (the spikes for instance) will look slightly different etc

New BBC Three Ident...

Did anyone see the new one on the 7.30pm junction into SAS (and out of Freddie Mercury Rock Shrine)? It featured a blob talking with a BBC Two Big Read snake next to it which collapsed at the end - missed the dialogue tho - Anyone know what it was about?
