Fame Academy - Alex Wins!

THOUGHT: How many of those votes for Alistair came from 12-15 year old girls?

But how many 12-15 year old girls listen to Jo Whiley?

I can't imagine that many would, bearing in mind that she's not really one for playing the chessy boybands and the fact that she on during schoo time....

Tory Plan: Half licence fee and restrict BBC to PSB

For the BBC to be a successful PSB it needs to have popular programming aswell as those that commercial channels would not show. Shows like The Blue Planet would not have been a success if they were part of a schedule that full of shows for minorities.

The issue is really blanace, and thats sometime where the BBC goes wrong. Too many shows that chase ratings and not enough that you would no find elsewhere.

I would say that BBC One has gotten a lot better in this respect recently. Programmes such as Rolf on Art have managed to appeal to a wide audience and to people who would not normally watch an arts show. Now those that do watch art shows may find RoA dumbed down but that really doesn't matter, the fact is, because its part of a mixed schedule its brought art to a new audience and that is what the BBC should be doing.

For what its worth I don't know why the Tories keep banging on about doing things with the BBC, why can't they talk about the NHS and health, things that really do need changing and saving and stop trying to damage the great British institution that is the BBC.

Fame Academy - Alex Wins!

I main problem with David Sneddon and the reason why Alistair can not win FA is that neither of them are anything special. I agree that its great that they write their own stuff and that does put them in a different league to the PI bunch, but FA needs to produce an artist that will bring something a little different to te music scene and that is why Alex (or Peter) need to win it.

BBC1 vs ITV1

I watch more BBC1 than ITV1 but I don't have a problem with watching either. If I think ITV1 will have a good drama on I'd watch it, although I tend to only watch one-off drama's on the network but thats more because I don't wanna get in to any other long running series.

The only think on ITV I can't stand is the news, and perhaps comedies.

So what is the current leaving order? I'm thinking
James - Carolynne - Peter - Alistair - Alex.

Agree that it'll be James this week unless, and I hope this doesn't happen, him and Alistair get saved. Aaaaaarghhhhh!

Then, I think it could actually be Alistair, presuming that the public will save Alex, the teachers will save Peter and I reckon that both Alex and Peter would vote in Carolynne. So that would leave Alistair going (which is good as he really can't win it although I do like him)

So it recap, it'll be, I hope, James and Alistair with the final three being Carolyne, Petter and Alex, with Alex winning and Carolyne taking second place.

Surely it would make more sense to have it built up somewhere ready to just pick up and go. Rather than having it all built and not actually find out if everything fits until they get it there and discover a wall is too long or something,

I'm sure they made plans first. I doubt they just went in with some rough designs and some wood!

Although in fact it's actually a case of no wonder it's being shown at 11:05 considering that the Last Night of The Proms is on!

They can't move or delay the proms!

Feel really sorry for the audience and crew at the house - 4 hours is a long time to hang around at that place.

Considering that the lines closed at 9.15 I would guess that they will record the results show.

I also just show the Pop Idol results show and I have to say, although some of them had good voices there was a massive gap between the quality of them and thoseon FA. And the two that got through to the final, well, they didn't look or sound like Pop Idols, in fact out of the ten I thought there was only one which could have made it.

Fame Academy - Alex Wins!

After seeing the students perfom their own songs and hearing the results of the votes this is what I reckon will happen in the coming weeks....

James goes this week - the final three being Peter, Paris and James. (Not sure who the teachers will save but it won't be James)

The week after it'll be Peter, Paris and Carolyn with Paris going.

Carolyn will go the next week.

That'll leave the final three being Alex, Alastair and Peter. And I think that'll be the order that they will win in, with Alex being first.

Actually looking at that I'm not too sure, it's gotten really close these last few weeks.

I don't think Paris will make it to the final and actually I'm not sure about Peter. I think Alex will and Alastair (the dark horse) will and maybe Carolyn. I realy like Alastair, but he really can't win, even though I thought his song was great, FA needs someone with more credibilty.

Anyway those are my (rambled) thoughts! Wink

Will the Hutton Inquiry Harm the BBC?

Interesting that it would seem that the BBC haven't lost any viewing figures for its news output. Surely if people had lost trust in the BBC they wouldn't watch their coverage of the Hutton Inquiry.

I think the government will come out worse than the BBC just because of the whole spin thing and the fact that people didn't really seem to trust them in the first place.

Barry really has to go soon, he's just so awful. I'm not that sad about Louise going, I didn't think she was anything special, although she seemed really nice.

As for who's gonna win, I think we need someone who is different and I think Richard Park wants someone who isn't just a teen entertainer, so someone like Alex or Peter, not Alistar or Carolyne, who would be the typical 'talent show' winners. The main problem last year about FA for me was that David won. Although he is very talented, he wasn't different enough to the Pop Idol lot (although he can write his own songs which is, I grant you, a huge difference), but really FA needs someone who will be credible and I think thats really only gonna be Alex and perhaps Peter at a push.

Edmonds admits part in TV going downhill

I think he probably is on his way back. Sitting in for JW on Radio Two and an interview in the RT, surely this is his, and perhaps the BBC's way of getting him back into the public eye.
