New TV Channel for Cardiff

Capital TV Cardiff has now launched on UHF channel 49 in Cardiff. Its a new analogue TV RSL channel like Channel M in Manchester.

Anyone manage to tune it in?

Im not sure when it officially launched, but the TV listings on the website start on 1st September, so maybe it launched then.

Im too far out of Cardiff to receive a picture.

But why reduce programming on one night only? TV listings show normal transmission times for the BBC Learning Zone up until 1st October. Seems odd reducing programming on one particular night only.

It still seems odd that the Learning Zone is starting at 4am. This doesnt happen very often. In fact, i cant remember this happening before unless there were engineering tests on.

The last engineering tests to take place were in the early hours of Friday 7th January 2005.

Yeah, i agree. It does seem odd that the Learning Zone is starting at 4.00am. It suggests to me that engineering tests might take place on BBC ONE and BBC TWO from 3.00am - 4.00am.

No. I was not talking about which regions are to launch on Sky. I was actually talking about how the regions are going to fit on the transponders and if any transponder moves are likely to take place. So far quite a few transponder moves have taken place to accomodate the sub regions.

The space might have been cleared on 10.832 H so that ITV1 BorderSco can move here (from 10.891 H). Which means both Border regions are on the same transponder. That then leaves a slot free on 10.891 H for ITV1 Yorkshire South to launch. As a result, all three Yorkshire regions would be on the same transponder. Or, ITV1 Yorkshire South could simply launch on 10.832 H and BorderSco would not move.

Another change might involve moving ITV3 from 10.906 V to 10.758 V. That then leaves two channel slots free on 10.906 V for the two extra Grampian TV sub regions to launch on 10.906 V.

Just noticed that ITV News has been removed from 10.832 H 22.0 5/6.
ITV News is now only present on 10.714 H 22.0 5/6.

It looks like a move to clear a channel slot on 10.832 H ready for another ITV1 sub region to start testing.
