The range 0808 1570xxx is set aside for fictitious uses in TV and radio, in much the same way 01632 is used in TV programmes.
I like that we have a whole range of numbers set aside for fictional use..

It seems the person who made the decision to 'fake' the result couldnt win either way- they would have been under pressure to fill the alloted space on the running order.
Blue Peter scandal
It seems a bit odd that one of the parents said on news 24 "all the kids in the studio were very dissapointed" when they realised the compertition was fixed. Yet if they were so dissapointed why has it taken so long for this to come out?It seems the person who made the decision to 'fake' the result couldnt win either way- they would have been under pressure to fill the alloted space on the running order.

I can only find this mention of them on there website-

I wasn't aware Ofcom had guidelines on DOGs.I can only find this mention of them on there website-
Ofcom posted:
"DOGs tended to comprise a channel identification logo rather than a web address and Ofcom had no concerns about such logos appearing permanently on screen. ...Ofcom considered that the question of where to place graphics on screen was one for the broadcaster’s discretion."

I do agree they stand out- I was working last night and didnt know the graphics were changing, but noticed out of the corner of my eye something was diffrent on screen. But then News 24's graphics are quite good when flicking channels and reading from the other side of a room whilst looking a lot nicer.
Well the logo is almost identical and they both spin round and hideous animations- a logo that spins for no reason?

Well hold on…you could have some fairly fancy graphics, which to be fair, Sky News have had before, but it doesn’t necessarily make the news very accessible. These graphics are clearly aimed at pub crowds and those who are flicking through the channels. It’s not pretty, it’s practical! They may not be as pretty as the last graphics, but they’re certainly easier to read.

Those who compare them to Fox News are just plain wrong. Fox News graphics are so far the other way with hideous animations etc.

Ha, you have to love John Ryley's quotes in there.
Basically what he is saying amounts to "Sky News is a big draw and people will pay for it". B-llocks they will. Sky News has never, ever, been a major draw to Sky Digital so god knows why they think it would be a draw to DTT viewers who have always overwhelmingly favoured News 24.
I really don't like the sound of "allowing us to concentrate on core viewers" or whatever phrase he used - i.e. viewers with Sky Digital. Presumably this means suffering a return of the nauseating Sky News Active promos every five minutes.
I like this quote from Ryley last week on the introduction of the train station screens he calls it-
"part of a strategy to make Sky News available through a wide range of digital media."
I wonder is removing the channel from Freeview part of the same strategy?
