BBC News Channel: Presentation

Joanna with a "BBC NEWS 20...erm...BBC NEWS".

That was within the first 5 minutes of me watching N24 live (sorry, I'm going to keep calling it that for a while) as I didn't manage to catch much live yesterday.

You'd think they would have what I've seen in a couple of radio studios just a rebrand- a very large piece of paper with the new name written on it in big letters...

Skins

I still think the opening sequence and the music don't quite fit with the show.. not sure why its too relaxed and sounds like something from a local magazine show...

Oi, stop being so London centric you.

This fire isn't anywhere near TV-AM is it? We don't want boiled eggs.

Associated Press Television News is very close by- not sure but think some of the live stuff is coming from there roof..

US Election 2008

all new Phil posted:
What is it with Sky News' obsession with blogs at the moment? 4 minutes into the hour and Martin Stanford is already talking about what blogs are saying on the US election... it is lazy journalism and not proper coverage!!!

I think some of Martins coverage of whats going on on the web has been quite good.

Noticed Sky seemed to have some problems early on with the virtual studio early on with switching to the wrong cameras..

how stupid. Poor mare had to log off and on again - why couldn't they havelet her use a tablet for 1/2 hr? Utter stupiity. Other than that it was quit a good idea. Maybe how they could do some of the coming up sequences going into the top of the hour.

e.g. at 8:58 - Eamonn could get up and walk over to Dermot at the desk and perch there while they have a little chinwag (or maybe not!).

I can see the reason behind logging on and off...lots of people do that..

What I don't get is clearly a bit of effort went in to following her down the stairs with the jib yet its only seen by those watching on line! Why not use stuff like that on air occassionaly?

I always thought the lack of creative shots and use of the whole newsroom set, jibs etc was sometimes down to cost of staffing the studio but maybe not..

Sky News

Sky News just seemed like something straight from a satire.

Left of the screen live helicopter shots from the states as a man takes people hostage. Right of the screen todays top funny videos from the net including a cat thats going through some draws..

Interesting interview on the new schedule,Jeff Randal and the airing of that Prince concert.

An interesting quote in the interview- "It's very important to us as a business that the Sky News brand is out on as many platforms as possible."

Confused yet Sky News is currently off Cable and might be leaving freeview.

I thought MTV, and in turn Viacom, had moved out of Camden?

I think that's the overall plan, we know they have the Leicester Square Studios, but I don't think that's where transmission will be going?

But saying that they've recently repainted Breakfast Television Centre in it's full 1980's glory again.

Yes strange isn't it - they also sold off their Leister Square one so who knows..

Who owns the Leicester Square studio now then? It's a good location but just seems to be empty at the moment.

London 2012 Logo

M@ posted:
http://www.gopetition.co.uk/petitions/change-the-london-2012-logo.html has already had almost 6000 signatures against the logo. I'm yet to read a single positive comment on the logo.

(does everything have an online petition now? I'm thinking of starting one asking for online petitions to be banned.)

The logo is awfull though, maybe it will 'evolve' into something different before the games begin..
