Asa, your hard work has been appreciated by me. It's been a massive part of my life for almost 20 years. Thank you for everything you have done for the TV presentation community.

As a way of keeping television presentaiton discussion going, I will be launching a new forum on TV Live very soon.

Is tv live on Facebook? If so, can you post the link to your new forum on there?

Two bits of rugby news - Sky Sports Arena will be rebranded Sky Sports Rugby League for a week building up to the return of the Super League, showing 40 classic matches.

And paywalled but C4 set to pick up highlights of the Lions tour according to the Telegraph. They claim it's 28 years since they were on terrestrial TV but surely that's live - I'm sure they were on Grandstand through to 2001 or 2005.

There were highlights on S4C in 1997, 2009, and I think 2017. The last time highlights or live coverage of the lions were shown fta on a traditional free channel uk wide were 1993 on ITV.

Disputes between ITV companies re sporting events

The siting of transmitters was sometimes an issue, as to who covered what. With Tyne Tees, one transmitter, Billsdale, beamed a signal that sometimes went deep into Yorkshire territory, and this led to Trident Television being created, for a few years. Sometimes, Yorkshire cameras would cover Middlesbrough football club matches, despite the signals in that area being very weak for YTV.

The BBC 1 COW Globe's first day in February 1985

The reason was, the old globe was burnt onto the London Plus titles, so the new globe resulted in slightly different London Plus titles the next day!

TV Breakdown Appreciation Thread

Some time ago, on this thread, was raised the topic of the infamous party political broadcast, which failed to play properly. The Thames and Yorkshire versions of how it was handled were found. Now, this is how STV handled it, with Bruce Curdy your announcer.

Memories of Regional Programmes

One Friday night offering on STV, usually after 11pm, was "The Funny Farm", a sort of comedy and music show, which opened with a chicken walking along the street, opening a door, and you then went in seeing a band playing. An unusual show, in that it had no opening theme tune, just opening titles.

The ITV Results Service bulletin came from the same studio at LWT as 'Saint and Greavsie'.

It did indeed. Saint and greavsie sat at either side of the desk, but for the results service Elton Welsby or whoever was the presenter would sit in the middle of the desk.

Stv started in 1989 their own show, scotsport results, hosted usually by ken mcrobb. Stv basically opted out of results service. Don't know if Grampian took scotsport results.
