The indo's take on the story appears to differ considerably from the Irish Daily Mail story. According the IDM it was only going to be subtle changes such as to the theme song and graphics. However the Indo's reporting the change are still yet subtle but "substantial' including changes to the actual studio, These will take effect later in the year (presumable more akin to a September launch)while according the IDM there would be no changes to the news studio only changes to theme song and graphic taking effect from next month. Interesting how both stories are quoted from an RTE spokesperson but vary quite differently. Unfortunately I don't have a online link for IDM story, only caught in the story in the paper!

Ronan Hardiman has been commissioned by RTE to compose the new theme tune for RTE news which according to IFTN is to air in April. Ronan Hardiman composed the current theme for RTE news. Be interesting to see will the news studio gets a revamp, though it's would be unusual for RTE to have a revamp in April.

RTE News on Two appears to be shortened now from last night. It broadcasted as an extended news summary bulletin ala the news extra bulletin after The Late Late Show. It's now coming from single camera operated studio. I know when the announcements were made about revamping of the news programmes back in October it mentioned News on Two would get a revamp. Is the revamp going to coincide when the RTE morning launch at the end of the month or is this how the News on Two is bulletin is now going to broadcast as?

tipped to take over the main anchor role are Una O'Hagan, Eileen Whelan & Aenghus Mac Grianna. Would be good to see Una take over the nine o'clock bulletin after stepping down from Six One six years ago. Though be interesting to see what happens since Anne job shares with Eileen Dunne on the nine.

recorded on account of Studio 4 be occupied as the main election studio. Be interesting
to see what type of setup they will use. Prob be 3 circular desks with a stand-up area with large plasma screen
in the middle like the last two election studios.
TG4 studio for the elections as shown during the leaders debate is a non-fussy,
classy enough looking set, one they should carry over for theirdaily evening news compared to
the current CSO background studio.

There seems to be a bit of a correspondents reshuffle within RTE. Tony Connelly has now been promoted to Europe Editor and from tonight's Six-One Paul Cunningham is now the new Europe Correspondent, formerly Environment Correspondent. Though not sure if Paul former post has been filled.
