The X Factor 2016

I always thought the 'X' factor meant that indefinable extra something that differentiated a singer from a star. "I was abused/bullied/had cancer/made stuff up/lied about my age" are not indefinable star qualities. They are heartstring tuggers.

Bradby at Ten

This thread is so awful it needs to be deleted. It's pure Bradby bashers. Reading it reminds me of just how forums like this need policing. I'm no Bradby fan myself, but this thread is truly awful. Really brings the whole site down a few notches. MODS - wake up.

For the record my 'ouch' was a recognition of the pain he clearly felt as he crashed out of tonight's bulletin, not a criticism.

That's conclusive then. Impeccable research, thanks!

I could post endless tweets, but I don't post fanatically about Bradby's every link.

No, clearly you're not motivated by an uncritical enthusiasm for Tom Bradby's involvement in News at Ten. You're missing my point. You've found a tweet you agree with and pasted it in here... as what? Proof that you're right? Alerting us to the fact that TV execs should gear their output specifically to make Auntie Pegg happy? What exactly?

Stick to posting your own (or relevant industry professionals) opinions in here and save retweeting random people's opinions for twitter.

Who made you a moderator? Point is that a 'random' person's tweet reflects a normal viewer's opinion who isn't an industry professional or an anorak of how they feel about Bradby.

Believe it or not, television is made for the masses, not for pedantic people like yourself.

You're absolutely right. Please forgive me.

Good Morning Britain - 2015 Refresh/Tweaks

Odd setup for "the rest of the day's news", Kate took the first story, then Charlotte did the rest.

It enables one presenter to be briefed of breaking developments while the other broadcasts. Fairly standard approach when lots of information is coming in quickly.

Paris Terror Attacks Coverage

Sounds like he was going to say ITV News Channel at 3:36

It sounds to me like he said "coverage continues on our website". Maybe he was going to say "coverage continues on the ITV News website'. He at no point sounds like he's going to say 'channel'.

Unless you have the ability to predict what Mark Austin is going to say three words in advance of course? Can you do that with anyone else? Only the other night when Sophie Raworth said "Good evening and welcome to the BBC's News at Six" it sounded like she was going to say "Good evening and welcome to the BBC's Nudey Sex" That's not what she said, but she sounded like she was going to.

ITV Weekend: V5

Finally, attention to detail is key I'm afraid Aaron. It matters that in your top of the hour shot, where presumably the presenters are at the desk, two of them are obscured by the screen . You'd complain if that happened on GMB quick enough wouldn't you?

Thankfully, Kate Garraway will be appearing a lot less when Piers starts. Without going into "pecking orders" or rotas too much, the lineup should be:

Mon - Weds: Susanna, Piers and Charlotte
Thurs: Susanna, Ben and Ranvir
Fri: Ben, Kate and Ranvir

However, Charlotte seems to be being sent out on location more, she's been out and about for the past few Thursday's.

Ha! Unless one of them is Kate Garraway of course. Maybe that's why you framed the TOTH shot like that. Even in the fictional world of Weekend Kate has managed to find herself in seat 2 and that was the only way you could ensure she didn't appear on screen. On screen, with all her (love it or loathe it) vivacious, infectious, self-deprecating, bubbly, engaging personality. Engaging is the important thing.

Good luck with the mock.

ITV Weekend: V5

I admire your determination Aaron, and your passion, and there's some good advice that you seem to be already taking on board.

All I'm going to add is that i think you're missing the opportunity to add a whole world (literally) of interest to the studio. How long would you put up with your windows being covered by a subtle opaque gradient, especially when you have the power to have any environment you care to create out there? The way it is feels cold and claustrophobic. It's TV... Anything is possible. As it stands every head and shoulders shot that isn't in front of the wallpaper/shelving is going to be backed by white brick or mint green glass, which will get very boring very quickly.

Also, the pattern on the rug is too small.

Finally, attention to detail is key I'm afraid Aaron. It matters that in your top of the hour shot, where presumably the presenters are at the desk, two of them are obscured by the screen. You'd complain if that happened on GMB quick enough wouldn't you? As I'm sure you would if there was a ruddy great clock in the background at breakfast time showing 1.20. It does nothing to convince the viewer that 'this feels right'. A good mock should try to convince you with every pixel.

Good luck. I haven't scored it BTW.

Paris Terror Attacks Coverage

Absolutely no need for music under Emily Maitless's summary of last night's events in the opening few minutes of Newsnight. Poor, tacky decision.

Good Morning Britain - 2015 Refresh/Tweaks

Whilst I enjoy the show, (and believe it to better than its rivals) I think the producers have made some mistakes.

Quietly pushing Kate above Charlotte, the new 6.25/7.25 entertainment slots, dropping the fourth presenter and axing the single presentation. Instead of sharing the news stories between the presenters, the show now relies on the "That's our Top Story, now here's ... with the rest of the day's news" format.

On a different note, the new rising sun background looks fantastic!

Kate will surely drop down the pecking order when PM starts Smile

Surely Ranvir out 'pecks' Charlotte and Kate. "I'm the f***ing senior chicken here, I've read News at f***ing Ten, I should be sitting over there reading out loud for 15 minutes with someone else (less important than me obviously) not sitting over here reading out loud for 5 minutes on my own"

Pecking order is a thing with hens, not people. You'll learn that when you grow up and work as part of a team, where the collective sense of achievement in the outcome overtakes any personal measure of involvement.

Surely, It doesn't matter to them who sits where and for how long. Why on earth does it matter to you?
