I managed to watch this the other night and I forgot how funny the show was. Whenever 2Point4Children has been repeated, the Christmas specials tend to get omitted or they’re harder to find in the schedule.
I note BritBox has added a number of single episodes of other series too, hopefully BritBox are testing the water to see if they’ll upload the whole series.
I’m really impressed with the expanding content on BritBox, but its navigation is so poor (on BT TV). Coronation Street is a good example of them putting different episodes in different places rather than one. For instance the 1995 episodes are totally separated from the rest.

Nice to see 2point4 Children have had their Christmas Special put on Britbox. What was once a very popular comedy in the 90's seems to be largely forgotten and never mentioned since it ended.

End of the road for UTV?
To be honest considering ITV plc acquired UTV five years ago, I’m amazed it’s branding and local continuity lasted into this year without change since 2016. A shame, but inevitable. Clearly the removal of the UTV branding in continuity since Spring hasn’t done any damage to the point where they’re happy to remove it permanently.

Also worth noting that BritBox has added a number of Christmas episodes of Corrie today too. I note that the Christmas 1985 episode they’ve added is a Granada Plus edit.

If today’s ITV3 episode is anything to go by, the Compare The Market sponsorship has ended, as there was no sponsor today. Also worth noting that BritBox has added a number of Christmas episodes of Corrie today too. I note that the Christmas 1985 episode they’ve added is a Granada Plus edit.

21st December.
That's much later than I expected but TBH I couldn't remember how far in advance Countdown records its episodes.
Countdown usually record a whole week of shows in one day. So five weeks of shows are recorded in one week. Fast turnaround. I had a friend attend a recording once in Dock10 Studios, and she said it was a fast turnaround.
I saw it being filmed a couple of times in 2010 when they were at Granada Studios and the whole week’s worth were also filmed in one day. They usually filmed the first two episodes of the week (in that sense) in the morning and the other three in the afternoon. The gaps between filming to allow for costume changes, set dressing etc took longer than the actual show itself, which was recorded as live. When it came to the commercial breaks, the actual gap was about a minute.
Don’t forget only within the last year they got plenty of episodes in the can prior to Rachel Riley’s maternity leave, as it was mentioned on screen that they had about 2 to 3 months off before Rachel returned after her baby was born. The funny thing being they only had a few weeks worth of episodes after this due to COVID-19.

Granada updated their titles in late 2018, more so to include the Mersey Gateway bridge (that only opened the year before), so they look a little better for a slight refresh. Surely another region has made an amendment or two over the last eight years?

That said I'm surprised they haven't at least updated the regional titles with fresh images over the last couple of years just to freshen things up slightly.

Agree about the advertising though, it’s time to give New Order and The Inbetweeners Movie a rest in promotions. BritBox has quite a niche but isn’t playing on that strength.

It’s worse when the unskippable BritBox advert, actually appears on BritBox prior to the programme. This was certainly the case with a couple of Spitting Image episodes of late.Agree about the advertising though, it’s time to give New Order and The Inbetweeners Movie a rest in promotions. Coronation Street
BritBox has added a number of classic episodes of Corrie today, as well as some introductions from the cast. They’ve also added some of the recent documentaries and The Road to Coronation Street today too.

Coronation Street
I noticed that one of the episodes either yesterday or today on ITV3, was the first to be produced by Brian Park. So it’s safe to expect some of the infamous changes within the Street to be on ITV3 soon.

From what I understand now, TF1 has an opt for Belgium as well with local ads. Switzerland has their own opt, while Andorra, Monaco and Luxembourg take the French feed.
The share for TF1 in Switzerland and Belgium is small because the local channels in those markets have first run rights to their shows to protect the market before they're aired in France.
M6 also has a Swiss opt, but I don't think they do in Belgium as RTL-TVi is their sister station.
Talking about this it makes me wonder if also UK TV channels do something similar with Ireland? I also wonder if other countries have feeds of their TV channels with ads for other countries?
A number of the main Sky channels have Irish feeds solely for advertising reasons. Sky News had an Ireland opt out twice a day for a few years in the mid to late 2000’s, but that stopped.

If I am not wrong..M6 has also a channel with Swiss ads, BTW I have just discovered that according to it's Wikipedia page, M6 Suisse is also available in Portugal.....I wonder why? And If I am also not wrong TF1 Suisse is also available in Belgium

I can’t help but think with Des’s passing, there simply isn’t many of the old style of all round entertainers left now. There’s not many people who were able to stay relevant throughout several decades, and certainly Des was a good example of that.
Des O'Connor has died aged 88.
