I can only reiterate what I said at the start of this thread, it has been a blast over the last 20 years here. To those who posters who may not choose to go over to the TV Live Forum, all the best and it’s been a pleasure contributing with you to this fine site. For those who already on TVLF then, I’ll see you over there and here’s to the next 20 years.
To Asa and the mods, I’ll keep this simple. Thank you very much for all of your efforts.
All we have to do is pick up the popcorn and turn off the lights
…and finally
To be honest I was going to hang on until the 31st, but considering how much things have quietened down today, I think this will be my last post here (unless the forum explodes into life tomorrow and Wednesday).I can only reiterate what I said at the start of this thread, it has been a blast over the last 20 years here. Let’s face it, it’s hard to top this one, a dignified exit from a quality broadcaster, who had every reason to be bitter, but weren’t:To which here’s the behind the scenes of the transmission area during the final junctions:
I’m turning back the clock 25 years exactly tonight as we said goodbye to the great Thames Television as London’s Weekday ITV. Thought I’d share for the first time a couple of the videos I shot that night at the Euston Road HQ as Thames finally went off air. Happy New Year Mark pic.twitter.com/O8BV8jfIRN

Though it did live on for nearly 18 months on the morning news after it was dropped elsewhere.
That rebrand for ITN as a whole lasted over a decade, taking into account the wider branding such as endcaps. The font was used well into the 2000’s and the ill fated News Channel too. You could argue there’s remnants of the 1995 package/style in the 1999 ITV News rebrand.

Yep, the clock sequence is some stunning work. A real shame it only lasted 4 years or so.

Out of curiosity yesterday I cast the clips I linked to on the previous page, from YouTube on my phone to my TV. I will say the Carlton and S4C ones still hold up excellently on the big screen.

Why not, fits in perfectly here. What's your definition of 'gold'?
In a sense of it’s not something that I would consider to be rare or a classic in that regard. But if you or anyone else for that matter thinks it’s Gold, then I have no problem with that.

This isn’t Gold as such,

Virgin Media Ireland to sell its TV stake?
When I was last in Dublin about 18 months ago, on the way back to the Airport passing all the houses I saw, I did not see one rooftop aerial on any house. I only clocked a couple of satellite/Sky dishes. I guessed cable penetration in Dublin was very high.

This isn’t Gold as such, but could you imagine back in the day ITV doing this with the IBA announcements and the transmitters served...?

I just looked, and then closed Twitter...
I know some of GBN’s hirings aren’t to everyone’s taste, including yours truly, but I think it’s only fair to reserve judgment until the channel is actually on the air, Simon McCoy included.
Simon McCoy
I’m sure the reaction on Twitter to Simon joining GB News is full of reasoned, considered takes and not at all people overreacting or getting hysterical at each other.

The MLN Tribute YouTube channel has uploaded a few more clips today, including ITN, S4C and Carlton. It’s worth noting on the ITN clips, the hands on the clock seemed to move faster than they did when actually broadcast:

On a recent Drive Tribe video Clarkson confirmed that he was recording a series for ITV, but he didn’t say if it was that, but I’m not surprised by it. He also confirmed that they’re due to record more Millionaire soon too.
ITV Programming Thread
Appears that 'It's Clarkson on TV' has become a series, starting Saturday nights in a couple of weeks.

The Sport Thread
I’ve not noticed this before on a Sky Sports channel, but France Vs Ukraine on Sky Sports Premier League only has a Sky Sports branded DOG, no Premier League logo. It’s the first time I’ve seen this on SSPL, I know they did this on Challenge last year.
