An idea to improve Channel 4's breakfast schedule

"Singing fakey fakey fakey rise and shine...." Wink

The Big Breakfast won't return, it's the last of that traditional magazine format sadly which is all but disappearing on mainstream television imo - certainly for kids anyway (although, in fairness, it was aimed at most ages)....just look how Blue Peter is struggling.

What about The One Show? You can't say "traditional magazine formats" are struggling. In the end there's good TV and bad TV...and by the end The Big Breakfast just wasn't very good.

C4 is massively short of cash so there's no way they'd even be considering doing anything different at breakfast to what they do now.

I must be in the minority of people in here who actually liked Yvonney! Shame to see her go with her 'have a lovely morning'!

Yvonne has been massively popular with everyone I know who watches Central. She's been there for years. Is it true she's going? I hope it isn't. To lose Joanne Malin and Emma Jesson and now possibly her is absolutely unbelievable.

Thank God Bob remains. But what women readers are left??? And probably none of them are over the age of about 30!!! Shocked

GMTV (1993 - 2010)

I heard on GMTV the other morning when Ben and Fiona was talking to Biggins, Fiona said that she and Ben could be available for Panto in December. Ben said to her well you definately will be. We know that there is to be a relaunch but it could be safe to say the presenters dont know whether they are safe or not.

Are GMTV even bringing in a new sofa star (Garraway promoted to main presenter?; Penny/Priya on Thu/Fri?).

The Bill

looks much better. Much more classy. It doesn't feel alienating at all like it did with Holby/Casualty.

ITV London Tonight

There is a dizzying number of people presenting the LT bulletins at the moment (tonight it's Alex Hyndman from Setanta).

Clearly the bosses at LT doesn't give a fig about continuty.....espeically when it's generic type blondes like Faye Barker or Jacky Kabler who might also turn up overnight on ITN etc. They do nothing to build the LT "brand"- if there still is one, that is.

I assume that part of the mass exodus from ITV Regional News is caused by them wanting to cut their wage bill? What is the betting that the remaining presenters (and any eventual new recruits) will be on much lower salaries?

I blame the Carlton contracts, they were around £200,000 p/a

From what I understand, ITV were 'encouraging' staff on the old Carlton contracts to go first. Let's just say we shouldn't be surprised if Bob announces his exit before too long...

This is all complete horsesh*t. No presenter was on £200k per year. I don't think Bob is going anywhere.

So how are the relaunch plans coming along?

Any relaunches that I've been involved with (elsewhere) ultimately end arguing over the `coffee table` issue.

Designer A: "Remove the table, bring the presenters closer to the audience"

Designer B: "Keep the table, it's an extension of the viewers living room"

lol. I believe the thinking is more open. Everything is under scrutiny, from the presenters to the on screen straps - the discussion of which is happening over the next two weeks. I understand the time scale has shifted, with a definite re-launch in the first week of January.
When GMTV comes back in the new year it will be a VERY different beast.

Fiona only has about 8 weeks left. Why is there still no announcement on her replacement?
