BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Chris Rogers and Ellie Chrissel currently patronising Britain on the N.C. It's like watching CBBC News. I'm just waiting for one of them to bring out a glove puppet and read out birthday messages.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Owen Thomas presenting the business news on the News Channel yesterday. Is this a first? He's a lot better than the boring types that normally do it.

BBC Breakfast

What?
The same Jenny Hull who had her big break about ten years ago presenting something peak-time with Eamon Holmes who then went screaming to the papers saying how outrageous it was that she was getting paid so much less than him....
Eamon Holmes, one of the biggest stars in Britain. Jenny Hull, some totally unknown woman plucked from the obscurity of reading the regional breakfast opts in the West.
She soon went back to reading local opts.
I don't think so.

Daybreak - the launch onwards

I'm sorry but you're wrong on that. There is always a big difference when interviewing someone face to face. It's easier to interact and read body language and rarely do presenters have to repeat the question more slowly while someone keeps fiddling with their ear piece if they're sitting next to them.
I'm more interested in which of the presenters will be going up to Manchester. What's the point of packing them all up north to present the same show; surely they should be looking for "northern presenters" to give the programme a new feel?

BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

Owen's certainly a million times better on business edition than Jamie Robertson. He actually makes business news sound interesting... even when it's not. Jamie has a very old fashioned style of delivery and style, Owen's so much fresher.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

I have to say, it's a bit too much. A bit of banter is great but it's like they've downed a bottle of warm chardonnay before coming on set. They're joking on nearly every link which is 1/ irritating (this is a news channel after all) and 2 / really rather inappropriate because they have to change gear massively to deliver some news about dead people.
It feels to me they don't really want to be reading the news on this "little channel"... the impression they give to this rare afternoon viewer is that it's far too low for them which is why they're not taking anything seriously.

Working Lunch dropped, GMT with George Alagiah to replace

I don't want to sound heretical... but does anyone else think George is just a bit rubbish? He's not too bad on the Six O'clock News but when he has to interview or adlib, he just seems a bit lost, a bit hesitant, a bit out of his depth. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent correspondent but I can help thinking Emperor's New Clothes. Or perhaps Emperor's News Clothes.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Owen Thomas is the new Peter Dobbie who's the new Tim Willcox. Every time I put on World Owen and Peter are on! Just as well they're the most likeable presenters on the channel.

BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

Looks like Peter Dobbie and Owen Thomas have stepped into Tim's shoes. Peter did the morning then the evening shift today, Owen's been on every hour for days. No impact Asia, just a short bulletin this afternoon, again from Owen. Amazing they've let nearly every regular anchor go on holiday all at the same time.

BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

Good to see Owen Thomas escaping his weekend box. World has a very nice presenter feel at the moment.
