BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Chris Rogers is back on investigative journalism, saw a segment of him visiting the Guatemala asylum in one bulletin and will be featured on Our World.

I think Philippa must have started cracking up towards the later part of "news in brief" section voiced by Tanya as we can hear Tanya giggling halfway through.

Does Jamie Robertson present general news bulletins or is it just Business Edition (w. Tanya Beckett) on which he might be presenting hence his appearance on the BBC One Minute news?

Anyone knows why the overnights shifts are 3 hours long while daytime bulletins usually span 4 hours? I'm basing that on for example Mike Embley's 2am-5am shift is 3 hours and so are Newsday and The World Today. However 8am shifts span until 12pm, which is 4 hours long. Is it because overnights are considered less comfortable timeslots hence the shorter hours?

Peter Dobbie presenting Friday edition's Newsday with Rico Hizon, don't think I've seen him on Newsday before.

Is Naga going to continue presenting TWT on World occasionally or will there be a cutoff date, after which she would no longer do TWT (like Mishal departing to Radio 4 and doing no more Impact). I'd thought she had gone Breakfast all the way since a week or two back due to her more prolonged absence, but she managed to pop up on TWT again last week.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Thought it was a good 3-location mix on Newsday today, with Babita in Hong Kong and Rico in Singapore. We get a minor interjection "Hello from London" from Daniela in between, doing a short roundup of other news.

Babita said "It's just gone 8 in the evening... in the morning.. here in Hong Kong."
Glad Rico got it right on the other hand with "You're watching Newsday, live from Singapore and Hong Kong."

I noticed Lucy Hockings on GMT, has she been covering GMT regularly?
Babita in Hong Kong now.
Kasia looks to be a regular on TWT now since she appeared mid last week.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

I thought Kasia and Ben presented very well together this morning. A good combination.

I thoroughly enjoyed Naga & Ben too. There was a memorable one where they were discussing topic on leg space in flights over the papers and Naga draws the comparison about Ben who's over 6 feet who could be concerned about that while she and guest relatively shorter so they were probably spared from the problem.

Also this morning:
"You can reach me and most of the team on Twitter, I'm at @BBCMikeEmbley with or without your 'magic finger'. Thanks for watching."
-Mike's occasional humor.

From my observation of the Breaking News filler: For example, in Newsday, due to the camera template they use where the London presenter is not shot with the TV adjacent to him/her when reading the news unlike regular bulletins, the old method of breakfiller is still used. That is, the fullscreen filler, followed by a banner 'Breaking News' superimposed under the screen.

On regular bulletins, they would opt for the fullscreen filler, followed by the filler being displayed on the TV adjacent to the presenter. However, I do notice sometimes the fullscreen filler does not appear, and they go straight to just having it on the adjacent TV while newsreader reads.

Also noticed a new modification: the Breaking News banner that's superimposed under the screen now features a glow effect running from the left to right. Anything that makes it less bland would be welcome I think.

Is Global a replacement for The Hub, Nik Gowing's program, when it became defunct post-NBH?
