Mishal Husain joins R4's Today programme
Anyone got an idea when Mishal will make her maiden appearance on R4?

To be fair, I haven't seen much of her because I don't see much of World News, but from what I have seen and what I've been told, she isn't very good. Not a great ad-libber, not particularly good at interviews. Maybe she's improved in the last few months but she didn't seem to be any great shakes to me.
I think shes very good I don't agree at all, I'm sorry, shes back from Yemen and presented on Friday and gave an interview on Impact, for her age and shes only 29, she can only get better.
For me, personally I have nothing much against, her, maybe I have been nitpicking at her blunders a little
. She probably isn't familiar with certain things like studio news presentation, hence the mistakes, what with she being new and all. I think she deserves some respect for work out in those dangerous places in the world. For a young and beautiful woman to be at those locations can be quite a risk. Like you said, probably on her way getting better with time.

Yalda Hakim shes great why don't people like her, she has a great voice and she looks great.

Wow. That swap happened many times!
Good to know, I thought this was a first time. Didn't saw them swap roles previously. Do you guys like Sally Bundock doing main news?
Yup, she's back, I was just missing her a while ago as I posted she hasn't been seen for a length of time.

and Alice Baxter for business, a role swap on World Today! Naga has been missing in action for a few days, with Martine Dennis and Alice taking her spot last 3 days.

An interesting note that Kathy is bothered by the hot weather in London judging by her twitter updates, and also she mentioned she sympathized with the Duchess for being pregnant in such hot weather when closing her show just now.

Not sure why World News America is now broadcasting from the London HQ. Maybe Kathy Kay happens to be in London or they're really hyped about the royal baby like someone mentioned. But, it's something fresh we don't get to see that often. Something caught my eye on the edition of it just now, it seems they programmed the cameras for Kathy just as they programmed for a business reporter. Since World News America has a thing for the anchor standing when opening the news at times, this time round, the moment we come back from the introductory newsclips, we see the camera pans to the main desk, with an empty seat, and the quickly changes to the 'catwalk' where Kathy is. It does feel weird, as if there's some mistakes if one is not familiar with their sets. On business report, it's alright since we're aware that there was an anchor sitting there recapping news a moment ago before the business presenter takes over.An interesting note that Kathy is bothered by the hot weather in London judging by her twitter updates, and also she mentioned she sympathized with the Duchess for being pregnant in such hot weather when closing her show just now.

She hasn't been on World studios for some time from my knowledge, unless she appear at a time when I'm sleeping. Last time I saw her, she usually does the slot before and after Impact, whereby Ros Atkins nowadays present. She has been on field duty recently, somewhere in Pakistan, comforting the families affected by the disaster. I saw her hugging someone in her promo. Yes, she isn't very good yet at the studios, she mixed up stuff in reading the news, and she has a lot to improve for emerging/fluid situations like breaking news or interviews, where she has to come up with the appropriate questions or sentences without much aid. I am actually okay with her accent, she doesn't sound too Aussie.,Daniela Ritorto's is more Aussie imo. Overall, she's young, pretty and is not yet very experienced. (Ros Atkins is actually becoming quite watchable nowadays.)
It's interesting to note that in today's World Today, Mishal Husain's picture was plastered on quite a number papers, and while doing newspaper reviews, they just choose to ignore the story behind those big star-like pics of Mishal on the front page. I think for those not in the know, might be suddenly surprised and say "Hey isn't that face familiar?".

Regarding Martine Dennis and Peter Dobbie, I have a feeling these presenters probably wanted a more relaxed position now that they've been at it for so many years, the less regular work translates to more time for personal activities. They're like going into semi-retirement it seems.
Just as long as she remembers the program is targeted at the Asian audience and shouldn't refer to 'The top stories this afternoon'
Good humor there, yes she always says "this morning" without considering that she's talking to the world, which can be any time of day.

Did Mishal managed to say goodbye to her viewers on Impact? Btw, when was her last Impact edition, and did she knew of her transfer then? Lucy Hockings has been doing Impact all week, I wonder who will be her relief now that she's the 'interim full-time'. Naga Munchetty has been missing for 2 days, wonder if they're prepping her up? She was on World Today on Mon, Tue-Martine, Wed-Alice Baxter.Regarding Martine Dennis and Peter Dobbie, I have a feeling these presenters probably wanted a more relaxed position now that they've been at it for so many years, the less regular work translates to more time for personal activities. Do you mean it's Rico Hizon or Sheranjit Leyl or both?
I do notice she doesn't quite reciprocate the humor or happy spirit exuded by the Singapore presenter when saying good bye sentences at the end of Newsday. She seems to like just march ahead with her headlines. She does seem more like a diva nowadays doesn't she? Not surprising with her emerging popularity. Kasia Madera is much more humble than her. I salute Kasia for that. She smiles more and is much for friendly towards her SG counterpart, or whoever it might be she's corresponding with.
Lucy Hockings speaks a little too fast for me. If she could just slow down a little.

Given that the WN shows tend to be centered around the presenter, there's no guarantee 'Impact' will continue. Though I have noticed recently Babita seems a lot more ticked off/less friendly on Newsday recently - including cutting in over the top of the Singapore-based presenter during the headlines before they've finished speaking. One way or the other I think she'll end up on WN daytime sooner than later.
Still, she has great chemistry with Jon Sopel, which would make for good handovers...

Oh dear, now I'm engulfed with guilt for criticizing her on Impact. To see her leave a show that's under her name is really sad. But probably, BBCWN had been thinking of putting a fresh face to it, as she's been on the program for a long time.

Talking of Impact, it's been announced this morning that Mishal Husain is joining the Today programme on Radio 4 in autumn - finally they have a second female presenter.
I guess this means that she'll be leaving BBC News and BBC World News then.

Since the presenter has very little control in what actually goes out, although I know the presenters of the branded programmes and the Six and Ten have some Editorial Control, it most likely down to the technical crew and with the automated systems in place it must be more or less down to a computer while the director tells them which screen to turn to.
The only time I've seen Naga Munchetty in Studio C has been during the World Today slot where there is a chair and sometimes Sally Bundock in between her and the Left Hand Screen so it makes sense for her to only use the one to her left, also with Mike Embley he has no WBR presenter so he can turn to either.
Also, I may be guessing here but is the reason the Tanya Beckett sits on the other side of the desk perhaps because the WBR presenters all sit there when they are at the desk?
Probably.
Yes, Naga only presents World Today nowadays at World, the business presenter on one side is a sensible explanation to use her left screen. However if I managed to get an observation where the presenter (double headed with WBR), uses his right display, then I guess I'll report it here, so it eliminates some of the possible reasons we've come up with.
Not too sure about Tanya though. I only managed to see her doing the special slot dedicated for her, Business with Tanya, where I think she sat somewhere at Studio B? Forgive my memory. Tanya seems to never present early hours in the UK eh? She's always the evening presenter there.
I reckon it's absolutely none of the above. Scars, earpieces, et al.
Haha. It's anyone's guess for now.
Sometimes it just tickles my curiosity to know their reason for choosing either side.
