BBC News | Presenter & Correspondent Reshuffles

Kim Ghattas was filling in for a short period in Islamabad, but is now heading back to Washington to her State Department role.

Shaimaa Khalil will be the new Pakistan correspondent, replacing Aleem Maqbool who is now based in Washington.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

I would think that they would be beefing up the presence in Kiev rather than Moscow to be honest.

At present they have a stringer there on a full time basis rather than a full correspondent.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

David Willey is (as I understand it) a stringer based in Rome, but is effectively the BBC Vatican correspondent, and sub for the Rome correspondent.

A bit like Hugh Schofield in Paris.

You could be right about Beijing - Martin Patience and Celia Hatton are correspondents there and John Sudworth is in Shanghai - three China correspondents and an Editor may be enough.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

There's usually a major reshuffle every two years.

The questions that post above raises are:

- Who is moving to Beijing?
- Who is moving to Athens?
- Who is going to Havana?
- Where is Alan Johnston in Rome going to?
- Who is moving from Moscow - Steve Rosenberg or Daniel Sandford and where to?
- Who is moving out of Brussels - Chris Morris, Matthew Price or Duncan Crawford and where to?
- Where is Christian Fraser moving to from Paris?

I suspect the answers to questions 1-3 are answered by questions 4-7!

Delighted for Jenny Hill and Shaimaa Khalil - they've put in a lot of hard work in their respective UK based roles, and it will be interesting to see how they get on with a foreign posting.

Aleem Maqbool has already moved from Islamabad to Washington DC, and Kim Ghattas has been filling in for him for the last six weeks in Islamabad, but is now heading back to Washington.

BBC Breakfast team dance to 'Happy' - a little crinngeworthy http://on.fb.me/1tls50p

It's hardly cringeworthy

I think that is a matter of opinion.

I sometimes think some people really do take life far too seriously. It was a bit of fun!

It's hardly cringeworthy - it was very funny, with all the crew having a laugh. The fact that nearly 10,000 people have liked it on Facebook sort of tells me that you're out of step on this.

BBC News Channel General Discussion

David posted:
Rather entertaining weather forecast with Clive Myrie struggling to say Tomasz Schafernaker's surname - and then midway through the forecast Tomasz trips over in the CSO studio. Certainly livened up a rather dreary forecast.

Please post a video or at least tell us the time of this event so that we may find it ourselves, you big tease.

Do a Live Restart on the iPLayer...23.25 is the time...

Can anyone put a video up for those of us for whom iplayer isn't an option?

What is Gordon Brewer going to be doing now that Newsnight Scotland is finishing?

Could he return to the main programme?

BBC Newsnight

Cando posted:

Edit: Not the best response on Twitter, I see...

Yep the Green party twats seem to have targeted her for daring to ask their leader proper questions. Zipper Rolling Eyes

Yes but in their defence, Yalda was continuously interrupting Natalie Bennett which made it very difficult for her to answer any of Yalda's questions. I wish she just let Bennett actually answer the questions. I might not like the Green Party but I did feel that Yalda's constant interruption did diminish the quality of the interview.

I did find her appearance on the programme to be rather strange. She isn't that well known by British viewers. She has done the odd report for Newsnight but apart from that she is relatively unknown.

Good to hear that Eddie Mair will be on next week. I think the he would be the best person to succeed Paxman.

I find this post rather strange.

Just because she is unknown to a domestic audience does not mean she could not be a suitable candidate. Frankly, what difference does that make.

If, based on her extensive work on BBC World News, BBC management think her worthy of a trial on Newsnight, then why not?

I wonder will the presenter make an "IMPACT"?
