Polethebear posted:
I was wondering since the item on ebay and that fact I have dealt with simallar things with Pro wrestling and US TV news if there are pepole on the internet that trade or even sold UK Idents. I'm just curious,I'm not looking to get invovled with anything right now. I just wanted to see what might be out there.

Thanks,

You could always check out www.thetvroom.com and save the clips to your favourites.

Oh, and if you haven't already, check out the Australian ident site http://idents.tv/blog

I'm in the process of establishing one for New Zealand idents but it's a little trickier than I'd imagined ( http://kiwiboy.wordpress.com )

that is very thoughtful of you to share your videos with us, i don't know how you do any technical stuff though but i'm sure somebody on site will

Here's hoping, mate!

I've googled and downloaded a converter but it's for ten conversions only. If anyone can recommend a free and permanent converter for MPG/MPEG to Rm I'd be very grateful.

Also, the other spanner in the works now is that when I go to upload the RealMedia (.rm) file I've made using the trial-period converter, Wordpress who host my blog say it doens't match their security requirements. Sad

There must be someway of having a link on the blog so people just click and the clip comes up in Real Player?

Help please!

Hi all,

I've bought and installed a TV card and am now able to record New Zealand idents, news, etc.

I've set up a site to put the videos on, but I need your help!

How, exactly, do I transform my MPEG recordings (which open in RealPlayer) into clips you guys can view on RealPlayer via my website?

I'm a novice at this and will need step-by-step instructions and recommendations as to the easiest and best way of doing it.

My site is http://kiwiboy.wordpress.com

I'd love for you all to be able to just click on a link and then up pops the RealPlayer with the clip.

How do I do achieve that?

Cheers!

UKTV in NZ

UKTV is a channel on Sky digital here in NZ. It shows mainly classic UK programming with a few contemporary series that have not shown on free-to-air channels here.

This wallpaper page gives you an idea of its onscreen look:

http://www.uktv.co.nz/downloads.asp

I'd be interested to know what forum members think of their look and how it compares with channels in the UK- after all the programmes will all be familiar but the way they're promoted here is obv different.

Personally I'm a fan. Their idents, which aren't shown, show everyday scenery shots from around the UK, with the red and blue arrows flicking across the screen.

Sixty percent owned by FOXTEL, twenty percent owned by BBC Worldwide and twenty percent owned by Fremantle Media, UKTV is a channel with global input.

New look One News titles

Looks like your not to much of a fan, well I am a fan of the new look, I don'tsee any problem with it at all. The remix of the music is fine, Sport is finaly done seated again, and they have nice plasmas instead of those crap projections...

the set hasnt change much but everything around the desk has, and from the look of some shots, the desk has been modified a bit.

The only thing I hate about the new look is the name straps, and so do alot of ther people, its just not "One News"

Oh, and the new structure for the 6pm news, is so much better than what it previously was. Hopefully this will get the ratings up again.

Well I'm not surprised, you do seem to always be the Yin to my Yang on these things bbcworld Wink

I agree with you about the 'name straps' (astons)- they're too 'busy' and they've reverted back to that colour combination of green and gold- which seems a perculiarly Australian colour scheme for a NZ news bulletin.

I guess I was under the expectation it would be a clean-break from what they had before and am dissappointed it isn't. As I said though, it could be worse- the set could be as bad as TV3's!

New look One News titles

News and weather videos from both the main bulletins and the Breakfast, CloseUp and Business shows, featuring brief shots of newsreaders on the set and relevant graphics (astons, titles etc) are updated regularly and can be viewed here:

ttp://www.tvnz.co.nz/view/video_index_skin/video_index_group

While the new One News title graphics were not as different, stylish or impressive as I'd hoped tonight, and the set retains the Pacific blue-green 'glass' look rather than the white giant screen and floorboards I'd hoped for, I guess it could be a lot worse, too.

OK, the clip's removed now as the bulletin is screening.

Yes, i've seen all of Aussie's news, dont particulaly like it apart from 7's open.

and NO! One News could never do that. Going virtual to me is a no no!

There's tacky virtual and classy virtual, bbcworld. I'm not thinking 'Tron' here, OK?! Wink

White is a flattering colour for most people- think of the music channel C4 which (still?) uses white sets a lot - and very effectivee onscreen. A blue/green globe floating in '3D' next to the presenter would look cool! You'd see a wee bit of shadowing beneath the newsreader's feet so they don't look cast adrift.

Have you seen the Aussie clips via the link above? They're great! Ten is cool and Seven's set rocks!

TVNZ as you probably know are desperately reviewing their news format for next year and trying to win back the JAFA market. I reckon replace the current One News set with a 'virtual' one- white background and floor, with the newsreader standing and a virtual globe ala SBS News in Aussie and the French Loto draw show.

There'd also be a wee couch (green or blue or another Kiwi-ish colour) and a wood/glass coffee table off to the side which would be off screen most of the time but good for any sit down interviews, alogn with a widescreen TV for interviewing people and doing live feeds.

As each story is presented the globe image would flash up a fish-eye lens picture of the person or event they're discussing.

Aussie News (widescreen openers)

So what do you guys make of the Aussie ones eh?

Heavy American influence, especially Channel 7's theme which is basically the same as the American ABC News one.

Overall though our neighbours across the ditch (the Tasman) are doing a pretty impressive job.
