Sky Sports Darts Coverage Music

Hi All,

I'm trying to identify the tune that Sky Sports are using when going into a break during the darts coverage. I recognise it as a dance track probably from around 4-5 years ago, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Has any one got any ideas as to what it might be???

Cheers in advance!

mark haines IS Sqawk USA, and without him, the show is doomed, likewise if they try and lift Geoff Cutmore from Sqawk UK. I hope Mark will be back soon, he's been my guiding light in the investment world!

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know where I can get the opening titles, and the font for Pop Idol from??

Any help would be very much appreciated.....

Cheers, and thanks

Don't have the intro video, but the font used in the Pop Idol logo is called "Kaufmann BT". I don't have a copy of this to hand at the moment, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it somewhere.

Cheers for that! Much appreciated!

Sky One up the spout tonight

I noticed that the sound started dropping at around 18:50 during the Simpsons. Very annoying, so I changed channel.

Is Sky One automated the majority of the time??

Mind you, even if it is, you'd have thought that someone at Osterley would have noticed by now!

Anchoring On Location

As far as I know, there was only CNN's Bernie Shaw, and two other editors, one of which tragically died a few years later in a road accident.

CNN replay the coverage from time to time in specials generally celebrating CNN's 'outstanding' news gathering team.

They were the only ones on air the night that the attacks began on Baghdad.

BBC WORLD posted:
Isn't the speed of the autocue controlled by the speed of the newscasters delivery, as opposed to the other way round?

It was just Stephen - his delivery and presentation style has always been slow and clunky, almost to the point of being dramatic. Don't think there were any technical issues involved.

James

IM sure its the speed of the newsreaders delivery because over nights on News 24 you see and auto cue in the gallery or what ever it is and if the newsreader slows or speeds the autocue follows... ive also noticed the and autocue in the sky news centre in a couple of shots.

CNBC Europe's studio autocues are operated by a foot-pedal under the newsdesk when they are sat, when they are at the newswall it is controlled by the gallery, or, in the case of Simon Hobbs, he adlibs.

I'm not sure about other news channels though, although I would have thought that they would be pretty similar.

BBC News strike

Declan Curry has spoken about why he broke the picket line to do the business reports on this mornings slimline Breakfast;

From Media Guardian:
"Curry, the only presenter to turn up for work on BBC1's breakfast show, said he did not support the strike and hoped fellow workers would respect his decision.

"I don't support the strike at all. The management have made a very strong case in my view as to why these cuts are necessary. It's other people's money that we are spending and we have to use it as wisely as we can.

"Whatever differences we may have with management, it is up to use to resolve them in a way that does not leave the viewer or the listener suffering.

"There are genuine differences of opinion and I respect my colleagues who have decided to strike and I hope they don't hold my decision not to against me."

The report also goes on to mention other correspodents that have crossed the picket line.

As far as I'm aware, there will be no news at all on BBC Three, and The World will not go out on BBC Four.

5 Live are being extremly devious by using sport reporters and producers to read the news.

Sport have an awful lot to lose too, so why are there so many sport people not striking?

Why is this devious?

Five Live have a responsibility to try and maintain as good a service as possible- they're managing half hourly live news and sport updates which is pretty good given the circumstances.

I'm surprised they haven't gone down a live phone-in route....staff like Victoria Derbyshire (although scheduled to be away) are freelance and therefore cannot strike with the BBC staff...I'm sure they could hire in freelance phone operators and run an ad-libbed live news/sport phone in with regular updates.

I think if we see future strikes in the next few week the BBC will have a better idea of who will and won't work....the result will be a better and better service with each strike thereby diminishing the impact of the NUJ.

Unless the unions gain more support over the next week....... Confused

Gordon Brown has given his support to the Strikers;

"Gordon Brown spoke with BBC protesters outside the Millbank buildings when he turned up to give an interview to ITN today.

Before going into the building Mr Brown gave his assurances that he would not cross the picket line.

When Gordon Brown left the building thirty minutes later he further lifted the spirits of the protesters by telling them: "We are not doing any BBC today".
