Andrew,

Let's be absolutely clear here - I am not at all absorbed with any 'one viewpoint' towards ITV. I used to think ITV was a fabulous channel a few years ago, but since Shaps and his cronies have come along I've been thoroughly disappointed in their output. Please do point out how many of these 'viewpoints' against ITV I have posted on TV Forum because if I'm not mistaken they have only ever been said, in jest, once or twice and I certainly don't think it's turning into any long-running theme. When they have been said, they have been in topics relating to the pure stupidity of the current bosses in threads such as those discussing Saturday Showdown & Citv. In this case, I think it was a valid passing comment as it really wouldn't have surprised me for ITV to go as quick as possible to their adverts and have Brian Dowling on standby with his puzzles. That is ITV of now Andrew - now I don't have the time or put in the effort to try and find out if you love that network as people here accuse you of, but if you really do care that much I should think you'll agree Shaps has turned it into carcrash TV - and I'm quite concerned we may be nearing the end of the biggest commercial broadcaster because of him.

Regards

This is a World Cup thread, your rant is off topic.

Any news on who's showing the third place play off next Saturday ? It still says TBC on the BBC website.

According to the Sky EPG it's on BBC1

The World Cup 2006

Oh dear everyone's in a bad mood. Probably a good idea to rest until tomorrow.

But interesting that Five Live immediately agreed with the Rooney sending off on the basis that he's stamped on some guy's tackle, while Alan Shearer reckons Rooney should give Ronaldo a thump. Wright and Shearer really are great role models for the young chavs of today!

The World Cup 2006

Thought you might like to know that although the England game tomorrow is on BBC1, it's being directed by ITV. That is to say, ITV's John Watts is the Match Director.

Some more info here about ITV's operation in Germany.

Can't believe Pearce has the live qtr final game tonight - he really is number 2 to Motson.

The World Cup 2006

Alright then, every year since 86 except for 94, 98 and 02. That's nearly all! And 82 as well. Possibly 78 too.

The World Cup 2006

With the exception of last time (for obvious reasons) the final has kicked off at 7pm UK time every final since 86 at least.

Sky is Going up again!!

Could someone please tell me what my gas meter reading is. British Gas have asked me for the info. And please tell me what number I should ring to give them the info - is it the number on the top of the letter they sent me, or should I call a different number?

Thank you

Interesting that Steve Rider has got the big Spain v France gig tonight, and Gabby was 'demoted' to Brazil v Ghana earlier today.

I thought Gabby and Jim Rosenthal would've shared today, considering Steve was in Montreal for the GP last weekend, and is in Indianapolis this coming weekend.

I wonder if Steve will get the Final as well? And looking further ahead, will we see him on Champions Tuesdays on ITV1?

Hardly news that Gabby has been demoted, and yes, pretty certain Steve will get the final. Guess Champions League is a possibility too.

Andrew posted:
The split of matches in the Quarter Finals has been finalised

The BBC and ITV have divvied up live coverage of the remaining World Cup fixtures, with the corporation taking the plum England v Portugal tie.

In a pre-arranged deal, BBC1 will broadcast live coverage of England's quarter-final, which kicks off at 4pm on Saturday.

ITV1 will take the 8pm fixture, featuring the winners of today's two matches, Brazil v Ghana and Spain v France.

On Friday, ITV1 has host nation Germany's quarter-final against Argentina, kicking off at 4pm, and BBC1 will be showing the 8pm game, Italy v Ukraine.

If England reach the semi-finals, both BBC1 and ITV1 will broadcast live coverage of the match, which kicks off at 8pm next Wednesday, July 5. ITV1 will carry live coverage of the other semi-final, which is scheduled for an 8pm kick-off next Tuesday.

However, if England lose to Portugal on Saturday, ITV will have first pick of the semis, with the BBC showing the other game.

Both broadcasters will show live coverage of the final, which kicks off at 7pm on Sunday July 9 in Berlin.

There's no mention of the 3rd place play off at all!

Perhaps you'd have the grace to credit the news organization that you just copied (verbatim) that information from.

More like Motson, Pearce, Wilson, Mowbray, Brotherton. Although the Pearce/Wilson order may change. We'll see who does the semi-finals apart from Motson.
