World Cup Scheduling
People are forgetting extra time and penalties - any game which kicks off at 4 would runt to about 6.45 if it went to penalties.

The goal in the Paraguay game was disallowed - it would have been the 2000th, that's what Peter Drury said, cloth ears!

The commentator on ITV1 said that Joe Cole's goal was the 1999th World Cup goal
Then on the highlights from the Paraquay match the ITV4 commentator said that the Paraquay goal was the 2000th... despite them scoring before England
Now apparently the Swedish goal was the 2000th

That's typical of the BBC that is, they can't do anything right!

But if the game turns out be Sweden v Germany then it might be top of ITV's preference list, for example.

So we're heading to the point in the tournament where the TV guides are full of alternative schedules!
Why can't they just take a bit of a risk and schedule matches according to who they think will be playing - or at least some of them.
For example, the BBC have the rights to England who will either play Saturday or Sunday afternoon, so they could tidy up the schedules alot by the BBC just agreeing to show both matches whatever the outcome.

Why is the top of the home page missing
How much do you think they paid a consultant to come up with the idea of ... different colours!

Very noisey during half time on the France game - is that why ITV have given all their studio staff cotton bud mics?

Now the ST wouldn't pass up an opportunity to bash the Beeb, but I honestly can't remember a time that the BBC has received so much criticism of its football coverage (even if it's deserved it). Makes the arrogance of the BBC's producers sound even more misplaced.

Sunday Times picking up on the criticism of coverage as well.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspaper/0,,176-2231293,00.html

UKTV is doing commentary from a studio I think.
UKTV is taking the world commentary feed from host broadcasters HBS
For highlights they are, but not on live coverage - they have their own commentators, including Ron Atkinson. And I'm 99.99% certain they're in a studio, not in the stadium.

This may be a daft question, but is the commentary for the highlights live or dubbed? What I mean is,do they take the commentator to the ground to do it or do they not bother? Obviously, for games shown live on the same channel they'll use that, but what about the other ones?
It's not really a daft question, because I think ITV do occasionally dub commentary on from a studio if they're only doing extremely brief highlights. Almost always though the BBC and ITV commentators will be in the stadium, even if they're not showing the game live. If you take a look here http://www.hostbroadcastservices.com/download.php then you can see the commentary positions for the different broadcasters and you'll notice both BBC and ITV positions.

I think Gabby Logan kicks Linekers arse to be honest!
No, no, no. For me it's Linekar and Hansen all the way. I feel a bit sorry for the way ITV have treated Logan by dropping her from England games, but it only reinforces the fact that she lacks a certain authority.
i find Lineker ruins any broadcast nowadays with his compunction to stuff a hilarious gag into his every link. it's just tiresome now and shows that the BBC would rather have pub chat than any actual football insight during half-time breaks.
Lineker and co = cheap smut! Steve Rider is the most professional anchor around, pleasure to watch. Now, if Gabby Logan talked smut at half time that'd be different - I'd pay a subscription for that!
