…and finally

I’ve only been here as a member for a short time, but I browsed around the forum for many years before that, back when I was only about 8! Very Happy

I will be very sorry to see this place go, and I was saddened to hear that TV Forum was closing down. However, I hope to be able to be more active over on the TV Live Forum and will hope that it is just as successful as this site has been over the last 20 years.

Thanks go to Asa and all the team here on TVF, and I wish you all the best for the future. It has been a privilege to be a part of this website, even if it was just for a short time.

But for now, on behalf of myself, Jack Miller, thanks very much for being with us, and until we meet again, it just remains for me to wish you all a safe and peaceful night. Goodnight.

And of course, just a final reminder for you to switch off your television set, and unplug it from the wall socket. Goodnight.

Eurovision 2021 - Netherlands - NPO/AVROTROS/NOS

Well, Belarus could be out from this year's contest as their entrant's song has some controversial political subtext, hence there's been a petition to disqualify them. Over 1000 people have signed it.

Yours truly is one of them

BREAKING: EBU has written to the Belarusian broadcaster that their chosen song breaks the contest’s rules - they have also been threatened with disqualification: https://escxtra.com/2021/03/11/belarus-entry-rejected-2021/

Nick Music

And as the old saying goes, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

International Presentation

Not too sure about the CBS and NBC ones myself - probably could have seen ABC using theirs as a real ident back in the day.

TV Predictions 2021

Sorry to bring this thread back into commission, but here are my (sort of) semi-realistic predictions for TV in 2021:

• BBC One launches a new look and ditches Oneness (although not initially, making forumers annoyed for first half of the year)
• BBC Two keeps the “Channel of the Year” tagline on its idents throughout the year
• Challenge is closed down after repeating episodes of The Chase too many times
• BGT auditions are held virtually for the first time due to the pandemic
• I’m A Celebrity to stay in Wales for 2021
• The Weakest Link is revived by the BBC (potentially with Judge Rinder as host)
• Steph’s Packed Lunch axed by Channel 4 - but Steph McGovern becomes new host of Countdown as compensation
• The Wheel and Winning Combination are both renewed following their successful first series
• BBC News introduces new titles - main graphics remain the same
• Iceland win Eurovision 2021 in a reduced capacity/audience-free arena
• BBC Sport hosts Euro 2021 and Olympics coverage from their Salford studio with some links from selected reporters in Tokyo

Happy 2021 (hopefully!) Very Happy

Martin Lambie-Nairn has died

I’m in shock. Always thought that he was one of the pioneers in modern TV presentation. His designs for the BBC, including the balloon and the 2’s, as well as the Channel 4 logo, were iconic, and defined my early childhood. My thoughts go out to his friends and family. RIP.

Premier League Coverage PPV and beyond

Interesting to note that there will be NO games broadcast on the BBC in January.

Crossing Swords Hulu

Sorry, but this is a forum focusing on television presentation, and not on individual programmes. I understand that you liked the show, but maybe you should try somewhere like Digital Spy Forums or another site that talks about TV.

Not wanting to be rude or anything, but I suggest that you try those sites instead. Thanks.

Top of the Pops

And the episode currently on now is the first to have the new style graphics for the song titles and the chart rundown.

Fire alarm at Sky News

Both Sky News and Sky Sports News are back on air now. Not sure if after midnight SSN is usually pre-recorded as there was no apology from the presenter at the TOTH.

Fire alarm at Sky News

Sky Sports News off air at present.

Fire alarm in Sky Studios. Sky News is on the backup tape at the moment, SSN has a replay of the last hour on tape normally but that relies on someone in TX being able to run it.

Are there any other channels off air at the moment?
