Looking through the Radio Times for next week i notice Nicholas Owen is down to present the six next Monday with Natasha, it is rather unexpected, i know most people thought that the most high profile bulletin he would get would be the Sunday lunchtime news summary, it is going to cause some confusion in the Midlands, oh well lets hope the Radio Times have got it right this time.

As has been said before, the announcement format for the Midlands is "This is BBC1 in the Midlands. Now the Six O'clock News with (presenter) and (presenter), followed by Midlands Today with (presenter) and (presenter)."

No its "This is BBC One in the Midlands, now the Six O'clock News followed in half an hour by Midlands Today with XX and XX." hence no reason to keep recording different annos.

BBC One has got a news special at 7.30pm.

I was down in Gloucester earlier and it was amazing how many people were down there (the general public). Nearly everything is closed and we have no running water. There were loads of TV crews as well with Jeremy Thompson being the main attraction on Sky News although George Alagiah, Dan Corbett, Jonathan Samuels and others were seen wandering around car parks...

Around the sky tent people kept shouting and trying to get into the tent that they had to tape it off.

it'd be nice to think bbc midlands might do a special programme at some point - like they did for the worcester floods in 2001ish and like bbc north did earlier in the year.

What regions actually cover the main effected area?

The area is around the 3 way split between BBC Midlands/West/South (Oxford opt) and ITV1 Central West/West/Thames Valley isn't it?

Nick Owen is in Tewkesbury for Midlands Today and Alex Lovell in Gloucester for Points West.

Jake Pratt was on last night...

When they announced the semi-finalists an extra two were picked so there should have been ten tonight, obviously one was withdrawn so that should make 9...

The thing is she showed that potential before and got the Monday-Thursday 19.00-23.00 slot on N24 but because she went on maternity leave other presenters have shined and filled in the gaps.

People seem to forget that Joanna had her own weekday slot before she went on maternity leave and asked to move to weekends...

I think the role Emily has now is not just better for her but also for News 24 - after all at least Joanna presents every evening whereas Emily also did Newsnight, special stuff etc...
