C4 "Goes Back To"...each decade

I reckon Gogglebox will be top tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have to list Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox separately to help plug the gaps.
Cando, DE88 and Strange gave kudos

Death to 2020

I'm trying to watch this now and it's awful. Weirdly it feels like all the elements are there but something is so off. It might be as simple as the voiceover not being right for the script, if it was Charlie doing it in the same style as Screenwipe that might have helped.

It reminds me of A Touch of Cloth which I loathed and was packed with lame jokes but there were a lot of fans of it and there seems to be a lot of love for this online outside of the professional reviews.

Music Channels

Does anyone know if the 4Music Freeview red button extra channels service actually works on any box? I assumed my old Freeview box might not be compatible but it doesn't work on my new one either and I realised it's got a now pretty old 4Music logo on the menu screen. It's almost like it's been abandoned and whoever knew how to turn it off and remove the red button prompt has left without leaving any instructions!

The Masked Singer UK...2021

It's unfortunate her voice is so distinctive as it meant she had to try and hide it a bit which meant the performance wasn't as good.

Joel Dommett's wife could well be in the mix, the Finnish version's host had his wife surprise him this year too!

Christmas TV 2020

I wonder if Channel 5 might be tempted to put All Creatures Great and Small on Christmas Day next year? It’s risky but it could potentially piggyback off Call the Midwife if they scheduled it after it.

Im surprised they didnt air it on Christmas Eve like was in the provisional schedules. What sort of rating did it get on Tuesday and was it good for Channel 5?

Channel 4 also put Bakeoff on Christmas Eve when it could have done very well on Christmas Day and filled an hour and 20 minute slot.

All the other C4 Bake Off Xmas specials have aired on Christmas Day. I think they've only ever rated absolutely fine there and perhaps they wanted to see if it would do better on Christmas Eve, though it managed 2.7m so didn't see a boost, it might well have been lower than normal actually.

Smtv Live reunion

Watching it now, it’s very fascinating!

Does anyone know why Ant and Dec sold the rights to CD:UK?

I don't think it was ever theirs to sell was it? I assume what they called Ant and Dec Productions in the doc became Blaze Productions which was a subsidiary of Zenith Productions who would've owned it all. Presumably Ant and Dec bought the rights to SMTV years later when the assets of the then defunct company were being sold off. I expect the CDUK archive was considerably more valuable than SMTV as archive music clips are more likely to sell around the world than old clips of SMTV which they'd only be able to occasionally sell in the UK for shows such as the one this morning.

Smtv Live reunion

I thought it was excellent. The whole thing really made me smile and the bit about its beginnings and how they worked out they needed to fill the studio with kids was really interesting.

Bit odd that they literally didn't acknowledge the final years at all, especially when they finished it with those pyros saying "SMTV 1998-2003" but there we go.

The Queen to deliver alternative Xmas message - or is she?

Such a great idea. In an age where the channel's management regularly misjudge their own service they've finally managed to commission something that's very Channel 4.

That Quibi line at the end really made me laugh. Can't wait for this, hope it will be just as good, if not better, than Antiviral Wipe.

GOLD coming to Freeview?

Should we start counting down now how long until the conspiracy theorist posts about them hiding it, their people not knowing, someone telling us they've emailed UKTV's duty office demanding an explanation... etc etc

*waves* Stop the countdown, they're hiding it! The licence page still exists, it's just not on that public list page.

As an aside I'm sad Digital UK recommended that channels be able to buy Freeview slots from each other as it will mean an end to the mysterious temporary holding channels and the guesswork of what will come next. I've quite enjoyed the oddities CCX has thrown up over the course of the year!

Will Disney close all the UK linear kids channels?

With the announcement that Disney will be launching Star as a brand for general entertainment on Disney+ in the UK and other countries, I did wonder whether a rebrand of FOX to Star might be a possibility.

I don't think Viacom would be too pleased due to 5Star being an established channel but not sure they could prevent it.

It's also possible that Disney may simply close FOX at some point, as well as both National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD.

The Star channels on Sky predate 5Star by years so I don't really think they have a leg to stand on there.

I'm not sure that they'll necessarily rebrand Fox to Star though, I don't know if they'll have much content crossover.
