Personally, I don't like widescreen. I much prefer the good ol' 4:3 aspect ratio.

So you'd rather go to the cinema and watch a square picture rather than a widescreen that stretches the span of the wall?

Hes talking about on the TV not at the movies. and 4:3 is exactly square either. Confused

I am indeed referring to TV. I do think widescreen works well on a cinema's large screen, I just don't feel it's suitable for a pokey little box in the corner of the room.

How would you prefer to watch movies on television?

Black bars top and bottom please.

What were the reasons for stopping the Five News (well 5 News) Early service anyway?

Money. Or rather lack of it. ITN's 5/five News was never the most resourced contract.

Five News

Someone said that the sports stuff would continue to come from ITN studio 5 for the time being. But if it's not being used daily for Five News they will soon be looking for alternative uses I'm sure.

As I said earlier in this thread, Sunset & Vine will continue to use Studio 5 initially. The plan is that it will eventually move to Studio 6 (Channel 4's studio). The timescale for this is unknown to mere mortals like me, but I'm sure the gov'ners have a date in mind.

As for the eventual fate of Studio 5, there are rumours that some sort of production for Reuters will take place there. I understand that Reuters narrowcast to various financial institutions, so I can only assume that the Studio 5 material will be part of this.

[EDIT]
Are there any Reuters employees out there who can confirm or debunk whether they do indeed narrowcast?

Whats recorded on the into of ITV news?

jdtech posted:
When the programme goes 'on the road' you can clearly see the front headlines are prerecorded. The headline sequence in the middle of the Evening News is also prerecorded, because it works out that they must be moving about whilst v/o the headlines... Shocked

Nah. The middle headline sequence is live. I have the dubious pleasure of sound mixing it. Maybe it really is prerecorded and they just haven't told me Smile

it will be whatever five want it to be. Sky News only produce the content, the music, logos etc are all down to five.

OH HOW VERY, VERY WRONG

Errr.... No. How very, very correct actually. When ITN produced five News, they were responsible only for the content. As Martin says, the music, logos etc are down to the head honchos at five.
