I agree cat. I think people don't like creating new threads because it spawns the snotty "Discussed here" type replies from the self-appointed Forum Police.

I thought the point of this forum was to avoid 'big' news getting tangled up in large threads, so that we all knew when things were happening without plodding through 64 pages of discussion before getting to the actual news itself.
How wrong I was.
Today I happened to turn on News 24 when BBC World News was running.
"New set?" I thought to myself. I knew it was coming, but I hadn't seen it mentioned that recently.
And why? Because it was buried on page 50-something of the BBC World 'General Discussion' thread... the very sort of situation this forum was supposed to avoid.
I know BBC World obsessives who proliferate this forum are the most consistently stupid group of people on here, but even they, I thought, would be able to cope with this fairly simple concept, given that a post explaining the ins and outs of this forum appeared just a few lines above theirs.
Not possible.

Strange that Channel 4 News, which would appear to be regarded in relatively high esteem on this forum, is very rarely mentioned and doesn't have it's own thread.
Probably the reason is that Channel 4 News is long on content but short on presentation gimmicks. Not a bad thing in my book.

Sky probably used a profanity delay in case Ozzy or Sharon said something unbroadcastable.

After the 12:30 Lunchtime News there was the LIVE press conference with The Osbornes which SKY¦News also carried but for some reason was 30 seconds behind ITV's coverage even though they both carried a LIVE dog in the corner!

Does anyone know what Arthur and Olive's surname in On the Buses was? I'm not sure if it was ever mentioned.

And Olive didn't even drive a bus! Arthur did. Olive just ate a lot of pickled onions.
