Spotted another new programme specific RTÉ One ident last night. This time for Big Week on the Farm. I have uploaded all four of this years new RTÉ One idents to a new section on Presentation Archive: RTÉ One: 2017 Special Idents & Presentation. In other Irish presentation news Be3 has launched a further two idents and 3e has launched a new ident called 'Juice'. All available on my website with links from the homepage.

Still using the same graphics, but a new studio has been launched. I'm not sure how they did it, but it actually looks worse than the old green screen studio previously in use!

Spotted a new RTÉ One ident for Dragons Den tonight. Back in January two idents for Dancing with the Stars were introduced. Good to have a bit more variety and something new. The existing idents have been in use since 2006!

Ever since Sky Living stopped having a dedicated channel controller it seems to have been in decline. All original productions moved to Sky1. When Sky rebranded its entertainment channels, no press releases mentioned that Sky Living was included. Only two new idents were introduced and they were taken from a channel trailer previously aired on the channel. It is not very noticeable but the characters in the idents freeze towards the end as the footage was too short. There were more than two scenes filmed but the other scenes featured in the promo must not have been long enough to turn into idents. Interestingly one of its flagship programs 'The Blacklist' is moving over to Sky1 shortly. I am sure if it was to close, all its primetime US dramas would fit well on Sky1. Perhaps Sky Bravo might be taking its place in the future? You can definitely notice a reduction in promotion for the channel, similar to how Sky2 and Sky3 started to decline before Sky Living and Sky Atlantic took over.

An interesting video I came across on vimeo, showcasing the work completed by SouthernGFX for Sky. It seems Sky creative create the flat 2d logos in-house and outsource the creation of the 3D logos to SouthernGFX. At one point in the video a 3D logo can be seen being created using the flat logo as a guide. Probably the best thing that has happended to Sky's presentation since the demise of its branding in 2011. Sky Sports was the first channel to use the new logos in its presentation and since then it has been expanded to other channels as part of the rebrand of Sky1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and Sky Cinema. I never liked the use of the 2d logos from the 2011 rebrand. When using a 3D logo the logo can be really integrated into the idents (Sky Atlantic, Sky Cinema) rather than being just being slapped on top of footage.

Crime+Investigation Channel

I don't think the package deserves to be compared to the Martin Parr BBC One idents! The variety and number of idents, stings, menus and other graphics is very broad. It seems there are two versions of each ident (the only thing similar to BBC ) I was actually interested in watching the other idents when capturing for my site, they are interesting to watch with lots of little details. You can tell that thought and effort was put into their production. Coverage is now online at Presentation Archive with a few more elements to be added over the next few days. I have included some more caps of the presentation below.

3, 3e and be3 - Jan 2017 relaunch

Caps from the News at Seven on Be3. More here at Presentation Archive. What a difference compared to Ireland Live. I really hope TV3 will impress us when they launch their new studio at a later date. Looks like they are using a new desk as well, not sure if it was changed for News at 5.30.

3, 3e and be3 - Jan 2017 relaunch

Presentation from Be3 available at Presentation Archive here. Just like TV3 and 3e the channel is airing two idents. Both liveaction with one having the be3 on a jar and the other on a cup. Two different trailer styles have been introduced, a full screen version and half screen version. Both trailer designs have four different background styles. So far I have only spotted one sting which uses feathers as its backdrop.

As for TV3 we are yet to see the menu which usually airs before the 5.30 News and the ECP which hopefully will pop up at the end of one of the soaps.

Not sure on the panning in the baking ident, seems very amaturish!
