The Sky News Thread

In the early days they simulcast two bottom of the hour segments of the US breakfast shows, as well as the nightly news. Over the years they took NBC, ABC and CBS's content.

The likes of Bryant Gumbal, Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Charles Gibson, Harry Smith, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw et al were household names, in our household!

GB News

Pure speculation here of course, but if ITV decided to say goodbye to Piers Morgan from GMB, then GB News could be a perfect place for Piers, if that decision ever had to be made. Just a thought.

Please....no.

GB News

JCB posted:
Times Radio is “right-leaning” but it’s a bit of a jump to suggest that means racists and hate speech are aired. I think people are (as always) equating right-leaning with hard/alt-right, when you could probably say the majority of the population are right-leaning.

FWIW I think the labelling of anyone who’s further to the right than Jeremy Corbyn as fascist / alt-right / hard right has been one of the most damaging things in politics and society over the past decade, and has only served to push people further to the extremes.

Agreed. It's amazing how wide the definition of racism is now compared to 20 years ago.

If you don't want to be labelled a racist then stop enabling them. You can't vote for a party with such an openly cruel, racist approach to immigration and citizenship then insist it's nothing to do with you when that party puts it's racist policies into action. Also, "they kept labeling me a racist so to prove them wrong I became a racist" is the stupidest theory ever.

This seems to be who GB News are really aiming for, the racists who don't think they are because they don't use the n word and the people who aren't homophobic but voted for Boris "tanked topped bum boys" Johnson because he tells it like it is.

But you're confusing satire with an opinion. Where was the uproar when HIGNFY did the 'letterbox' joke, as did SpecSavers years before Johnson, but he's a racist for doing it, but they're not?

Andrew Neil
Have we established what the GB stands for? Great Britain (in which case I'm assuming they'll be ignoring Northern Ireland and the Democratic Federal European People's Republic of Kent), or Gammony Brexiteers?

Great British Bake Off, Britain's Got Talent, Good Morning Britain, Little Britain........

New AF Neil online venture 'The Week in 60 Minutes'

I assumed Andrew Neil was doing it from home, but Kate Andrews of The Spectator was sat in front of the same bookcase on Politics Live today.

So it comes from The Spectator's HQ, or Kate has moved in with Andrew (or vice versa)!!

House of Commons native HD

Not just a Sky thing, but I've noticed recently that the feed from the Commons now appears to be native HD and not upscaled. Is this related to the new camera angles, including the one looking from the Speaker's end to the main doors (which I assume due to Covid are left open)?

I've always liked the glass box. It's even better now that they use that camera angle where you see the trees through the windows. Tend to notice it on Mark Austin's programme, especially when it's windy! I never noticed it in the early days.

News channels. Can we stop asking morons on the street what they think about things?

I commented on the strange setup not the Tweet that linked the video.

Incidentally, the BARB figures are out for Burley's new show and unsurprisingly it doesn't make top the15. Stephen Dixon makes number one with the 8am half hour of his Sunday show and number eight for the 7.30am 30 minutes.

Bet Kay loves that!

Last time I checked Stephen had a co-host...

While presenting from home, it seemed to be his cat

So Timmy's outrating Kay too! I see she's still got a bee in her bonnet about Tony Abbott.

Coronavirus | Television News Coverage

This is why I like Times Radio, with no phone-ins from people who don't like/understand the rules or from people who can/can't get a test whether they're eligible for one or not.

Is it just less weekend competition which means the weekend editions have always performed rather well - presumably the overall available audience at 7.30 on a Sunday morning is less than that on a weekday.

Just had a look at this week in 2015 and Eamonn Holmes has a few entries in the then top 10 and is just about on a par with the weekend shows.
