ITV Rebrand 2021

AxG posted:
and is dull.

Well, that's sort of the whole point. Nothing too complicated

There's literally no concept here, it just looks like a bunch of colours plunked together.

You're going the wrong way about being simple:

Music Channels

Quote:
Can't say I'm surprised by the closure of Discovery Shed/Home & Health......I actually predicted it in the TV Predictions 2021 thread.

Given that H&H and Shed did not feature in the Discovery+ channel lineup when it launched was the biggest give away that the 2 channels were on the life support machine and were ready to be switched off. Now we know for sure they will be put to rest.

Yeah, even 4 years ago Shed and H&H weren't given much love internally. Not surprised they're shutting down now.

EastEnders

Although since the playout provider change, the UKTV channels have been showing 4:3 programmes as 16:9 pillarbox rather than proper 4:3 switching as previously.

I can confirm that Classic EastEnders are indeed at source, 4:3. Not sure whose bright idea it was to crop them.

(obvious, but it seems they've dumbed down the response for non-TV geeks)

GOLD coming to Freeview?

I mean, it’s linking to the new Ofcom channel license which I’d think is a pretty good source...

Mistakes happen (basically the speculation in the thread is far from what's reality)

BBC scraps TV Channel Controller roles

Quote:
The BBC has confirmed what has been UK industry gossip for months: That it is scrapping TV channel controller roles after decades in favor of a model placing greater emphasis on streaming-first commissioning.

BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore outlined the radical overhaul to staff on Tuesday after conducting a review of the way the British broadcaster greenlights shows at a time when U.S. streamers like Netflix are hoovering up viewers.

From April next year, the BBC will no longer have controllers overseeing BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC Four. Instead, portfolio editors will be appointed to handpick shows commissioned largely for iPlayer by genre heads with supercharged powers.

CITV Gas Street cut-outs

IIRC that wasn't the end of in-vision as they then did a load of OBs over the summer, didn't they?

Yes, the summer was presented "on tour" from the sets of various shows that were starting & returning in the autumn.

CITV Gas Street cut-outs

Not about the cut-outs as much, but I've posted this in another "CITV at Gas Street" thread before and I thought I would post it here.

In 2003/04, CITV shared Central News's set, which means that (in a way) the studio was split in half.

That had actually been the case since I believe the 1998 relaunch, as they had to cobble together a set of some sorts to enable in-vision presentation.
I believe it started in 98' in another area but then moved opposite Central News in January 2000 with a big set with multiple areas. That lasted until Sept 03 when we had the white much more basic looking set which lasted about a year before going out of vision.

Presuming its this set?
