BBC World News: Presentation

BBC WORLD posted:
Karin Giannone was on the overnights last night and then turned up again just four hours later with David Eades for the double-header!! And in between that, we had three hours of "with me"!

I am sorry, guys, but I find Karin Gianone PAINFUL. Maybe if it were 40 years ago, I would have a different feeling!

Why, oh ,why, did we have to endure J Robertson presenting news on Sunday from 19.00 gmt. He is not a good reader and he does not have the same charisma he seems to produce when he is doing Business. The latter is what he does best.

There are plenty of good presenters so BBC does not need JR to do news. What about Alastair Yates, Tony Campion, Lynette Tye or good, old Julian Marshall?

For gravitas, you cannot get better than A Yates.

I hope BBC WORLD have lined up a good team for presentation over Xmas and New Year. And, hopefully, more news and less Xmas!

ahh... i miss Adrian Finnigan being the voice-over of BBC World News.
Why don't they let Peter Dobbie do it!

You Finighan fans are incorrigible. I think Alastair Yates should do the voice overs. He is ,after all, Mr BBC WORLD.

Dobs would be my second choice.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

This is a plea to all BBC WORLD fans! Please vote in the News Presenter Of theYear thread.
It seems that fans of the oher stations are bulldozing their way onto the thread and BBC WORLD is lagging behind. If you are a true believer, VOTE. We need to support our station because it is the best.

CNN - too showy, loud and lacks substance
SKY - repetitive, boring
AL JAZEERA ENG - biased

BBC WORLD - BRILLIANT!

Come on, People - Fly The Flag!

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Interesting info about J Charles. I wonder why he did not do any reporting from India while he was there? He is usually very good out in the field. He was terific in Zim earlier this year during the famous March 29 election. Mind you he was reporting from SA so he didn't have to dodge any of Mugabe's thugs.

I was pleased to see Dobbie on breakfast (05.00 gmt) this week. He is an excellent presenter and should feature more regularly on weekdays. I would also like to see A Yates doing the Mike Embley slots at 21.00 gmt. He was doing them about a year ago and then he was whipped off.
Why?

David Jessel came and went as quickly as the English summer. Will we see more of him?

Lyse Doucet is my favourite female presenter. She's lovely.

Until such time as I can find the News Presenters thread, I will continue to post my views on this thread.

I think I am becoming a fan of Owen Thomas. Gone was THE ASSININE GRIN of previous weeks. It was replaced by a mature smile which adds to his stature.

The weekend was in safe hands with Dobbie, Marshall and Yates to the fore.
