BBC Today

I like them, I think the studio looks better with the city backdrop, but would lose the 'TODAY' written over the image. Other than that, I think they are good, although bright orange and blue might begin to hurt your eyes a bit early in the morning!

Save Reporting Scotland

Do remember that BBC Scotland is moving to Pacific Quay in 2007, and there's talk of a real window looking out as part of the studio. This studio seems to be an in-between stage, although I do agree that it is dire and it would have been best for them to leave itas it was for another 2-3 years.

Your idea of couch and coffee table would certainly improve the look of the programme, but I would personally prefer them to be behind a desk. Standing up is fine, but only if used in small doses, but the fake backdrop is just pathetic. They'd be better using their real newsroom as a background!

Lady Fiona

winifred posted:
I think Moira Stuart, shoud be given the title 'Lady' considering that she's been a Newsreader for about 20 years and she's very good at it. Who agrees?

It's getting quite tiring to read all your posts about how *wonderful* Moira Stuart, Natasha Kaplinsky, Fiona Bruce and any other female newsreader you may be obsessed with are. As has been pointed out to you many times before, when you post this it rarely relates to the topic. Why don't you go and create your own 'I Love Moira Stuart etc' forum and stop posting it here?

Louise Minchin back

New presenter schedule, as said in the News 24 thread. Matthew is now doing 1300-1600 with Maxine Mawhinney and Jane the 1900-2230 slot with Chris Eakin (so says the thread).

[And great to see Chris Eakin getting a just promotion- handles breaking news in an excellent way.

Is moving from the afternoon to late evening a promotion? I gather 4-7 is prime slot, but is there much difference in the other two?

With Me, Tim Wilcox posted:
Tim Willcox should have his own slot instead of Amroliwala.

I agree totally, Tim Willcox is not used enough, relegated to Sunday mornings and late nights, he is excellent.

BBC One Idents

Someone who will be glad of Lorraine Heggesey’s departure, I’m sure:

Zzzzzz-rated

Who in God’s name thought up the film clip BBC1 puts on between programmes? It puts you to sleep.
People moving like slow-motion zombies in red silk pyjamas. If they move any slower, they’ll topple into the water.
There’s more life in a tramps vest.
There are seven or eight of them. I fell asleep before I finished counting.

An interesting take on the Tai-Chi ident, don’t you think?

Languages and Journalism

Thanks very much so far.

I was thinking of doing Russian as I like the idea of learning a language that is completely different to English, French and Spanish but thought with Germany and Italy being closer to France and Spain it would make sense to choose them, or do you think that this would make little difference?

Languages and Journalism

In the future I want to become a Broadcast Journalist and I know that the best way to do this is to do a Postgraduate course, which I am hoping to do. This would allow me to study Modern Languages at Undergraduate level, as I enjoy learning foreign languages, and also believe they could be useful to me in the future.

I thought I would ask here which would be the best to study to pursue a career in journalism, as I have had very conflicting advice from other people. I wish to continue my study of French and Spanish, but a course I am interested in offers the chance to study three languages, the other options being Italian, Russian and German. Which of these, in your opinion, is the most relevant?

Help

I am doing a small project, it isn't for school or anything, purely off my own back, and it involves a news programme.

I do not have the technology or talent myself, and was hoping someone here could mock a music package for it for me e.g. titles and headline bed.

I know this sound like an odd request, but anything would be must appreciated. Thanks.

Reporting Scotland & Scotland Today

michaelwh1 posted:
Could anybody tell me the second names of the regular sports presenters (Rhona and Alison) on Reporting Scotland please? I need them for an assignment I'm doing at uni, and the BBC don't appear to properly ID presenters on screen on the main programme.....I hope someone can help!

Thanks

Rhona McLeod, I think, but I'm not sure about Alison though.
