GMTV needs to get a complete overhaul. I think the show is dreadful right now but the standard of the show has been slipping for a few years now. Firstly, I'd rename it: 'GMTY' (Good Morning to You). I'd also axe all the Today presenters - Fiona, Andrew, Kate and Ben as I think they are awful. There would not be one hour devoted to Newshour and the next 2hrs 25mins being Today. The show would combine news and 'human interest' stories in one whole programme, a similar format to Breakfast, broadcasting from 6-9am. A more modern looking studio set, similar looking to the ITV News set but with warmer colours and obviously a bit smaller. No more titles with the presenters in it, looks weird and Americanised. I'd place Penny Smith and John Stapleton on the sofa as the main anchors of the programme. Now that ITV News Channel has gone off air, there are plenty of presenters 'GMTY' could poach (if the programme became completely owned by the corporation). Chris Rogers, Nina Hossain, Andrew Harvey or the BBC's Suzanne Virdee would be good choices. Andrea and Claire, the weather girls would stay but Richard Arnold and Keith Chegwin would have to go, so irritating! The news reading at TOTH
' would be shared by Nick Dixon and Amanda Sergeant. All current correspondents and reporters would remain. Stop the trashy competitions and 'Inch Loss Island' - the programme just doesn't work! GMTY would have more emphasis on news/current affairs with some focus on showbiz and light-weight stories.
