BBC World News: Presentation

Being very picky, I think it should also be pointed out that every Japanese character should rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise.

BBC World News: Presentation

Ok, I like desks, and I completely agree that without desks presenters do seem rather stupid and the channel looses authority, in particular if the presenters stand during the opening sequence and the main news -although our voyeuristic curiosity of finding out the actual presenters' heights is satisfied.

A part from that I think that overall the changes are a big improvement. But from what I've seen in the video caps it looks like the studio has become even brighter. I found the former studio too bright already, now it looks blinding and the white-red contrast is very aggressive. I find slightly darker sets, like the one BBC World used until 2004, much more appropriate.

Though BBC WORLD might like to see it!?

...Wait a moment, Ben Brown reporting for NZ's One News?
Anyway Anita McNaught looks great, it's astonishing to see how many times she's changes her look.

With all these new World News Today programmes being launched, I find it all the more curious that they decided to drop The World Today in favour of just BBC World News. When you think about when WNT will now be airing: 1100 GMT, 1300GMT, 1600GMT, 1800GMT, 2100GMT, (2300GMT - World News America), 0200GMT. You've got bulletins that are no more than a few hours apart. And yet between 0200GMT and 1100GMT, only the normal half hour news bulletins. I would have thought at least 0500GMT would have been a pretty reasonable time to stick in a branded hour long broadcast, considering that's what they effectively already have.

Have you watched The World Today in the past 2 years? It pretty much turned into an ordinary BBC News bulletin but with the execption of a few closes. There was nothing like the old TWT's in the old BBC World set.

So I think its right that they dropped the name because there was nothing different about it compared to ordinary BBC World News.

Are the 0500 news bulletin and WBR still simulcast on the News Channel? If so how do they call it? BBC World News? BBC World News on BBC News? BBC World News from BBC World News? Well, anyway The World Today sounded much better.

Euronews - "Everything is changing"

Well, it's been a very radical change. From what I've seen in the video on youtube it doesn't look bad, though, I'd be interested in seeing how it works during a normal bulletin.
Very pure, clean and european style.

Euronews - "Everything is changing"

Absolutely. Although it focuses on European news and views (they have a sort of convention with either the EU or the Council of Europe) it covers events from all over the world and it is aimed to viewers wherever in the world.

Well, another improvement in my opinion would be a few 30 mins news bulletins throughout the day... although those 10 mins editions are always well-structured I think some longer versions would provide a more informative and global view.

Euronews - "Everything is changing"

No Comment is indeed a great feature -and since it's only a couple of minutes per hour it doesn't make you "guess the news".

Also, I like it when they use No Comment during extended coverage: I remember watching many events without commentary, often so much better than hearing someone making useless commentary and basically just describing what everyone can see like many channels do.

A great boost for Euronews would be a studio and a presenter -at least for a few hours every day- but given that it's a multi-language channel I can't imagine how that could happen.

BBC World News: Presentation

Right.
So the WBR included in WNT lasts 30 mins (approximately from 2115 to 2145) and is presented from both London and NY. And Tanya Beckett presents both the news and the business. Did I get it right?
