It's quite refreshing from the monotony of rolling BBC News! Jane's doing better than I thought! The WNA team seems to have all its regulars on the ground: Laura Trevelyan, Kim Ghattas...

I'm sure we all understand that it's a cruel world but after all this is the "TV Newsroom" - and it is nice for us to see a news presenter actually earning their money. A lot of them get a pot of gold for doing 8 hours a month, let alone a day!

You absolutely missed my point. I said it's nice for us to see them for xyz - I know that contracts have certain clauses and certain time enforcements - we often see some of the best, most hard working presenters for only a certain time frame; Zeinab, Paxo, Mishal and others are all very good, for the 30 mins a day they're on for - so it's nice to see Gavin Grey on top form for 8 straight hours. So I hope he'd earn a nice bit of money for the day!

It's a shame to see that fellow members was so quick to "correct me".

Maybe I just didn't articulate my thoughts well enough?

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Raymond Snoddy (from the BBC's Newswatch programme) appearing as a guest on Sky News. I take it Ray is freelance at the BBC?

I've seen him once or twice do the Press Preview on Sky News. He was on recently with Jayne Secker.

The news service provided today considering the circumstances has been absolutely brilliant. What a trooper Gavin Grey is too! I think he should become a permanent presenter, or even just let him run the News Channel himself! Laughing

Some of you make it sound like no one has ever done more than an 8 hour shift without a break. Over the past few days I have been working from 6am till 8pm with a 30 minute break to cover for sicknesses. What is my reward... Rolling Eyes

Wow! Gavin Grey on for the sixth hour now! Looking on Twitter, he seems to be quite a success!

Indeed - he is the new Tim Willcox with his super-shift!

At least Tim would take the odd break here and then - I remember one Friday he did 8.30-11, 2-5, 5-6, World News Today and 10.25-1!

Still, Gavin very much alive and awake. some good interviewing questions and good clear voice - which is superb for someone who was probably up at about 3am.

Confirmed by the BBC Press Office that Newsnight won't air tonight.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to Adam Parsons trying to land one on some News International mug - that would have made some outstanding television.

What a shame - I thought they were doing quite well, and now she's on. Let's hope she doesn't do a Maxine and stay there for 6 hours.
