BBC World News - to 14th January 2013
Nice to see Karthi Gnanasegaram get a bit of work. I think she's doing the Countdown to 2012 weekend shows for BBC World News. She's a very competant sports presenter and a lot better than some of the others!

Granted, she has quite an awkward stance, and kept moving her face about quite a bit, but I didn't think she was that bad. But I do agree, Paula ought to have done that shift. NSW is one of may favourite formats but I'd imagine it would be very monotinous for a newsreader. Paula is quite lively, but I do notice that by 1645 she's a lot less lively than at 1400.

Is that her name? Saw earlier and not sure who she was. Thought she was awful personally. Condescending style of presentation and looks in pain

Rachel Younger is on now and I have to say she's excellent. Good at interviewing, keeps a good pace and is keeping things interesting. I knew she was a good correspondent, but she's a good anchor too - unlike a couple that come to mind... but that's for the BBC thread!

The 'mystery presenter' is Adam Parsons, who we often get on the NC as a news or business presenter. He's not brilliant, clearly fluffing his lines up this hour, but not as terrible as others. And although this combo is strange, the BBC seems to realise the importance of this story, as does CNNi, but others such as Sky News haven't been doing as well as I would have expected - with sport updates and domestic stories given a bit too much airtime considering 92+ deaths.
Norway attacks
Komla Dumor is alongside the same mystery presenter who appeared on World a few days ago. He is not good at all.
Given the gravity of the story and the extremely fast paced movements that are being uncovered in Norway almost by the minute, I find this combination (Komla, but moreso the other gentleman) to be a rather strange (and wrong) choice for such a big story.

Same here. Also, I think she was a bit bored in that Westminster studio. It's alright but all the walking, camera angles and space that was had on Afternoon Live would be better!

Kay's voice sounds strange today, very mild.

Sky News: Presentation Discussion
What is it with Sky News fading out of their presenters mid-speech? It happened just now when Lukwesa was cut-short into the CBS News. It happens on the bottom of the hour and on the weather - it's quite annoying!

To my knowledge, only those two have been the London presenter, but we've had Juliana Liu and Mariko Oi in Singapore. I would assume that Rachael Hodges is the Sunday presenter but on Twitter, she has said that she is freelance when on that particular shift. And nobody else has been on recently, except Deborah Mackenzie a few Sundays ago.

Just out of interest, have any of the other overnight presenters apart from Babita Sharma and Kasia Madera presented Newsday yet, since it started 6 weeks ago? Also, is Rachael Hodges now the main Saturday night overnight presenter? Or is it Deborah Mackenzie? Rachael's done it most weeks since Alastair sadly retired
Also, has Rebecca Pike been on lately?

And that glass-to-screen wall and floor they have in London is brilliant!
Bloomberg Television
They certainly have a great rolling news format. In the sense that you get the same standards out of almost every programme, high quality guests and succinct, yet insightful commentary. Not to mention great music and branding. The US mornings sequence is better in my opinion but I agree, the Europe mornings sequence is well presented. And that glass-to-screen wall and floor they have in London is brilliant!

Sky News: Presentation Discussion
Odd for a Saturday, we've just had Sky News At Nine and now we're on to the first Press Preview. Usually, only the second one airs on weekends. I'm assuming this is for consistency - as Sky News now likes!

BBC North West Tonight
Wow!!! They clearly didn't have a clue what was going on! Still, at least some news got out there.
