BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Have we just walked in on a domestic? Martine's just screwed at Huw for stealing the papers, I must say Martine's always good on the papers and yet John Hammond is still on the weather!

Seriously, I haven't got a clue, how is it that Nina dis the One and then the domestic forecast for World News Today with Zeinab Badawi? Longer shifts for sure - I think the only one that won't change is Weekdays Breakfast - although Matt Taylor did it this morning.

BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

House posted:

So it's next Monday, not today.

Jon tried to interview Chris about three times between 15:45 and 16:30, and every time they gave up because the link was so bad. Also, Jon described Chris as a 'reporter' at one stage - I wonder if this was a one off event or if it's a new position for Chris. The coverage today certainly didn't warrant a NC presenter to be there, though Chris did seem very effective at questioning the detectives during the Q and As.

Yes House, I thought that I also saw him listed for Newsnight this week too, although maybe I was in shock and went selectively blind?!! I also saw Jon and Emily, not as perky as normal due top today's depressing agenda, but a quick question - who's doing the NC sport right now, she looked like she ought to be doing the News At Six! Joanna said "Thanks Jackie," but who?

The satelline link before 5pm for Chris Eakin was quite bad, and I wonder why he was Astoned as a 'News Correspondent' - it seems jobsworthy! It's a shame as amazingly, I think all of the correct presenters have been on today from 6am and it's unusual to miss his shift.

And as for Newsnight with Matt Frei, actually and as I suspected, it's Kirsty Wark! http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/newsnight/fromthewebteam/2011/01/monday_10_january_2011.html

BBC Breakfast

She's presenting panorama tonight. More details here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_9348000/9348372.stm

She was very good presenting that Panorama today too, not too serious and not at all akward with the children, she seems like a mum-sy time of person, so she was a good choice for this, and indeed for the News At One. Well done her, one of the best Panorama's I've seen!

What's going on today John Hammond is doing what I would usually infer as Laura Tobin and Rob McElwee's normal shifts and has been on the NC from around about 4.30 and is till there now!

Slightly odd today, Nicholas Owen stayed until 1330, when Juliet Dunlop came in and now Clive Myrie's here at 1700, he'll probably stay until midnight I assume.

EDIT: Oops, maybe not, Juliet's back at the wall now so maybe Annita will solo like last night or be joined by someone else at 1900.

And Annita's here at 1800 solo.

Annita McVeigh presenting solo tonight?

Yep, it seems so. First time I've ever sat through the whole Saturday Sportsday and some of the camera shots they use are terrible! Both Matt Gooderick and Amelia Harris very good, but I feel like they're children when they sit in "the big chairs"!!! Would like to see Matt Gooderick do a bit of actual news presenting, sure he'd be quite good, he's done E24 but ought to do a shift or two - bound to be popular with the ladies!

A very odd story breaking right now is the incident in Arizona where Annita pointed out that the Congresswoamn was dead, yet then she also quoted Reteurs as her being alive but critical. Looks like we'll have to wait and see. Odd to see BBC leave the story for Sportsday at around about 7.38 whilst Sky is tapping in and out of it, with their Fox feed and CNN is keeping with it, and the studio has gone all red.

David Eades was in the old BBC World studio,

That studio's closed to my knowledge, was it TC7 perhaps?

BBC World News - to 14th January 2013

Komla Dumor I could probably understand because of his work on The World Today (World Service Radio at 4am), and the fact he is all over the BBC Global Minds site at the moment; but if it's him and Naga then I will be quite disappointed I'd expect. Naga can be good, but she is constantly repeating herself, which always makes her seem quite monotinous and whenever she says "let's get the headlines this hour", I roll my eyes beacuse half the times she's on the NC! Komla is too, and has a big personality, just like JC, so that might work but if that would, I'd want Martine Dennis to do the bulk of these shifts; despite her dreadful lack of timing and saying "this morning" yet on World, she's brilliant with her relaxed yet husky voice, and is used to the shift anyway so why not stick her on Tuesday-Friday and get Komla in on a Monday, for example.

Interesting to see WB 17th January Newsnight presenters are Matt Frei (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), Kirsty Wark (Tuesday) and Stephanie Flanders (Friday).

She'll be on this Friday too, in just half-an-hour! And Matt Frei? I wander who's gonna hold fort in Washington?
